Mimik,
I'd bring it along anyways. If there's enough sweeties, you can always bring it to another offline at a later date. No harm in toting it along just in case Smile.

I had not declared yet:

This is my offerings:

1990 Château de Montguéret Coteaux du Layon Petit St Louis
1989 Château Palmer
1991 Taylor Fladgate Porto Quinta de Vargellas
1997 Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino

I will reserve the right to change as I might look for something different than the Silvio Nardi.

Vinaigre,
Very generous indeed. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. I have a bottle of the '89 Palmer in my cellar and I'm excited to finally try one. I'm sure it's drinking beautifully.

Yeah Vinaigre, no kidding! Eek You know that you only need to bring a bottle per person, right? Wink

I've been in touch with Bocado again and they will add a cheese plate. It will cost us a whopping $5 each extra! Big Grin, making the cost of our five-course meal $50 each plus tax, tip and $10 a bottle corkage.

Please arrive well before 7pm as I've asked for the first plate to hit the table at 7pm.

We'll now be 15 people, in our own room upstairs around a rectangular table that should allow us to see and talk to everyone else, rather than a long table. We will have a side table for the wines and decanters, as well as dump buckets, at least two stems per person, and at least four decanters.

On the last point, I expect that we will want to decant more than 4 bottles, and since under Ontario law, BWO wine must be opened and decanted at the restaurant, you may wish to bring a decanter or two for your wines that need air, and/or drop them off at the restaurant for decanting earlier on Saturday if they will need lots of air. Your call.

Updated attendance list with wine commitments (or ideas) to date;

DoktaP - 1 (with continuing hopes for 2!) 1995 Beaucastel mag, 1980 d'Yquem
bman - 2 (1977 Dow, 1998 Boisrenard, probably something stickie and Aussie to annoy Steve )
carriedca-1
a Product Consultant to be named later - 2
mimik - 1 (1998 Guado Al Tasso Bolgheri Antinori, 1990 Moulin Touchais )
Steve8 - 1 (1997 Caparzo Riserva Brunello?)
Impulse - 1 (1982 Palmer?)
KSC02 - 2 (1986 Leoville Barton)
Vinaigre - 2 (1990 Château de Montguéret Coteaux du Layon Petit St Louis, 1989 Château Palmer, 1991 Taylor Fladgate Porto Quinta de Vargellas, 1997 Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino)

I spoke to carriedca last night and he is having a hard time finding a ten year old bottle that is mature. If anyone else has a similar problem then I think we should bend the age limit rather than drink unready or weaker-than-necessary wines, no?

Absolutely unacceptable. In addition to 10+ years of bottle age, they should be 97 RP points or higher and have cost at least $150. Razz Big Grin Like Dok said, it's all good. Looking forward to seeing Carriedca again. I'm hoping he's going to join us all for breakfast too. Big Grin

Naah. We only enforce that rule on steve8. Big Grin

Mostly to keep his 'provocative feistiness' in check. Razz

Bman,

Slight change.. Problems securing a sitter...
C will not be joining us...
Hope it doesn't cause any issues with the restaurant.

Now to decide which bottle to bring: the '89 Palmer or the '97 Nardi ?

No worries vinaigre. So you are down to 1 now, right?

Has anyone seen or heard from Dr. C? He's the only one not to have posted for a while.

Hi all

Sorry for not posting sooner. I am thinking of bringing a '98 Beaucastel. I might bring something else as well.

Right now, I am less than 50% certain on attending. Mrs. Carriedca has started contractions, mind you they are hours apart and not very strong. But all this could change.
I will keep you all posted.
