escape, Welcome to the Metroplex! Many, many, many tasting groups in the Metroplex. I have been in one for over 10 years and one for 5 years. Others seem more hit and miss. I have found most groups seem to have their own "palate" as for styles, and others still searching I look forward to meeting you soon and exploring the greatness of wine. A Votre Sante Michael

escape, I have been in two groups for years and have enjoyed joining WIML and others from the WS/VC site a few times in the last year or so. I guess I now have 3 groups, with this group meeting every couple of months or so. My others meet every month+. As for restaurants, very very few true BYOB in the Metroplex. Most of the places we meet are through special agreements. Some that come to mind are... Il Sole Amici's Campisi's Caravelle De Tapas LoLa's Nick & Sams Mi Piaci Amore's MoMo's City Cafe More I am sure but this is off the top of my head. I saw you post about Riesling. The true great noble white wine

escape, Good News, Bad News The wines of Germany have NOT had a fair market share in the Metroplex for years. Now that said, the '01 demand and response to their greatness has been a great help. I had to order my wine! The good news is we are seeing more '02 due to the great demand of '01's and I am hearing good things from palates I respect. We have a restaurant named Caravelle that is GREAT for off-dry wines. Sounds like we must plan on dinner there soon after your arrival A Votre Sante, Michael
