Anyone interested in an offline in July? I know a venue in the downtown area that is willing to accommodate 8 - 10 people.

Of course. I will be attending and there is a good chance my wife will be there as well.

Looking forward to the details....

I'm always game. The only weekend out of the question for me is Jazzfest weekend, which is the 21-24th.

PlanoWino will be in Toronto July 24th through the 27th and would like to get together with the Cru if possible. I've forwarded his email address to futronic.

I'd like to see a weeknight off-line, as I tend to spend my summer weekends in Muskoka.

I'm generally available other than the weekend of July 15th when (as I mentioned here) Mrs. Slan and I will be spending a long weekend in NYC.

Since PlanoWino is up from the 24th to 27th, maybe we can shoot for the Tuesday or Wednesday night?

Lots of places to choose from.

Let's call it for Wednesday July 27th.
Depending upon the numbers, we can try Zucca again or the old stand by- Chez Splat. What ever is most convenient for the majority.
Fut, do you want to pick the venue?

Guys... I spoke with the restaurant owner last night and we're good to go on the 14th or 15th. Which date works best? I'll let you know the name/location of the venue via email as he's not participating in the BYOB program.

I have two preferences:

1) Wednesday, July 27th (DoktaP's suggestion); and

2) Now that we have BYOW, I think we should stick to participating restaurants. There are lots to choose from.

Ok, Wednesday, July 27th is the date. The restaurant will be downtown, since PlanoWino is staying at a hotel on Front St. I'll look over our choices, make some calls, and go from there.

Roll call:

PlanoWino (1)
DoktaP (1)
Slan (1)
futronic (1)
basecadet (1)

Anyone else a definite?

How 'bout a truly LCBO inspired theme: "Wines I've line up for...was it worth it?" A couple of recent ones immediately come to mind, the Cellole chianti classico and the Kilikanoon Oracle, but there are many more. Standing in the cold and rain, I always promise myself that I'll make a special note as to whether or not the wait had been worth it but I usually forget. This may be an opportunity to make a decision on whether or not to get up very early on a Saturday morning the next time. Just a suggestion...have a good off-line.

Duojet,
I don't think we've discounted an offline with your venue for the 14th or 15th. It's just that the Planowine thing works best on the 27th. Personally, you can twist my arm for both.
I am unavailable on Thursday July 14th, but available on Friday the 15th. PLUsK.

Screwtop, that's an interesting idea for an offline, but these days, I don't tend to line up. I've found it a bit of a waste of time, and more often than not, disappointing. Still, may be worth a try sometime. Are you in?

My thoughts will be with you--we don't return from Europe until August 6.

Duojet,

I agree with DoktaP.....

I am in for the 27th (me for sure, Leanne is a maybe) and would likely participate on the 15th if is it is a go.

Screwtop,

I hate to sound cocky, but I have not lined up since the 1993 Caymus Napa Cab was released 8 years ago.

I live outside of the city and have been buying wine from the same Vintages consultants for 12 or 13 years. They usually give me first pick a week or two prior to the release. If there is anything you are having trouble getting, let me know as I can get it if the stores I deal with recieve stock.

I have no problems with an offline on the 15th and 27th. Personally, I think we should do the 15th at Splat and the 27th at a downtown venue, either Zucca or Via Oliveto. I'll be having dinner at Via Oliveto this weekend, so I'll report back and make reservations accordingly, based on how many people we have.

I'll start a separate thread on the 15th if everyone is cool with doing that day as well.

Dok... I've started another thread to avoid any confusion.
