I had to listen to the music since you mentioned it.

You were right. I'm glad my office is on the first floor.

I'm in for the 28th at the Rooster. Bdx or even bdx blends sounds like fun, especially considering our French "ban" last month.

Ms. CS may be able to attend. My guess is she'd look harder for a babysitter if we could identify another female attendee.

It would be fantastic if you could talk Skosh into flying up to see you... I mean, us.

Comet: Woo Hoo! Glad you're in! That means we'll be drinking some good wine! I hope you can talk the missus into attending. BTW. I got your bottle of Valentini Montepulciano for you. Now where's my Carlisle?!?!

Lentini, I don't know the cost yet. The chef hasn't gotten back to me yet. Based on past experience, I think we've come in around $70/person? I'll let everyone know once the menu is set. No matter the cost, this guy really can cook!

Let me work on the wife tonight. She's far enough along in her pregnancy to have a sip of the wines... and good food is compatible with pregnancy. Only other difficulty is her stressing about projects that she wants done prior to giving birth. I'll negotiate! Give me 24 hours.

Festiva: Sorry, we can't make it.
Lentini--- The Rooster is superior. Go for it.

Irwin, sorry you are going to miss this one- again!

Lentini, I will be sure to bring your wine if you can make it (shameless effort to cajole you to attend).

Speaking of cajoling, flattery will get you everywhere Festiva Wink - either that or a bottle of Valentini Montepulciano! I'll bring you some Carlisle even if I have to wring it out of my contact ounce by ounce.

Looking forward to "A Night in France"

Tell Ms. Cometspider to pack her bags! My wife and I have a babysitter and will happily join.

She'll be coming more for the food and company than the wine, but I say we seat her at the same table anyway.

Now wine... Bdx or bdx blends... Hmmmm...

Wow! This one's coming together nicely. I like GF's idea of comparing CA Bordeaux Blends vs. the French stuff.

I told Mark we'd be a group of 10-12. He'll be opening the restaurant just for us. I'd feel bad if we couldn't deliver on a larger group for him. If there's anyone else that would like to join us - you're officially invited!

Newsguy, we won't be sitting down to dinner at 6:30. We can always adjust the start time a bit to accomodate you if you'd like. Let us know.

Sounds like a great event - may I put myself in for (2) and think a while on what to bring?

Love to have you Jace.

Those of us uncommitted on wines should give it some thought over the next couple days. If Mark is opening the restaurant just for us, he'll need put his grocery list together. Having a list of wines in advance will aid greatly, I'm sure!

Lentini (2)
Cometspider (2)
Festiva (1)
Gentleman farmer (1)
PurpleHaze (1)
Jace (2)

I'll dig around the cellar and see what I can come up with. I think I'll pull one of each: a Bordeaux and a Bordeaux Blend from CA. I'll post it in the next day or so.

Now, just to confirm, PH was just kidding about wearing a skirt, right?

I grabbed an Italian (Tuscany-Maremma) Bordeaux blend prior to noticing the CA preference. I'll bring anyways unless I hear objections. No Sangiovese in it!

2003 Poggio al Tesoro Sondraia

Then we'll bring a 2001 Sauternes... sans objections. With the group size, is a full bottle a waste? Should I just bring a 1/2? Bottle size will determine which producer. (Don't stay up late worrying that you'll pick the wrong one - choice isn't between D'Yquem and something else.)

I can swap either of those for red Bordx if preferred.

So the choice is between D'Yquem & D'Yquem? Great! I'll choose D'Yquem! Razz

Whatever you choose is fine. The Italian sounds interesting, and you can't go wrong with 01 Sauternes! I think you'll get by with the 375ml bottle. There'll be plenty of wine to drink earlier in the evening...
