Oh! Oh! I'm sorry, this is abuse.

I normally always attend this tasting. It's a good one. Great chance to sample some burgs and rhones before buying. Also tried the '95 d'Yquem last year, which was worth the price of admission on its own.

But this year, I'll be in Manila on the 27th. I'll have to re-live it through everyone's notes.

I'll probably go and would appreciate some advice when we get there on what to try. I am very much a novice on French wine, and wonder if my lack of enchantment with it could be from not getting to try "the good stuff".

I haven't seen the list, but you might want to consider hitting one or two areas instead of hitting everything under the sun. For instance, try and hit all the Bordeauxs (red, white, and sauternes) or Burgundy or Rhone. Sam's has this tasting every year, so they'll be something else to focus on next year.

My game plan this year is to first hit the big names on the list and then go back and do Rhones. Additionally, for those interested Sam's will also have a Rhone seminar in mid-February.

When a region combines wines of value, lasting power and hedonistic pleasure, it is no wonder critics and buyers have discovered and elevated its reputation. Incredibly, values still abound! We will discuss individual producers as well as some of the excellent cooperatives.

So who's going tomorrow? I am.

Anybody know if they'll check your coats? I can't imagine wandering around for three hours in my winter coat. I know I went there for a smaller seminar and checked my backpack once, I just don't know if I need to try to shove my coat in my backpack...
