Another very successful offline has come and gone! 11 people in attendance, some new, some not, some forumites, some not. Needless to say, everyone had a great time!

Thanks for everyone that came out and shared some absolutely stunning wines and for heckling since I take too long to write my tasting notes. Razz Big Grin

The wines:

NV Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs
1997 Ceretto Barolo Zonchera
1990 Dante Rivetti Barbaresco Riserva Bricco Neueis
1998 Sumac Ridge Pinnacle
1986 Chateau Pichon-Longeville-Lalande
2002 Malivoire Old Vines Foch
1993 Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Napa Valley
2000 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
1992 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District Hillside Select
1997 BV Tapestry
1999 Terrabianca Campaccio
1996 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche Estate
1999 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
2001 Ridge Geyservile
2001 Cape Mentelle Zinfandel
1993 Schloss Schonborn Riesling Spatlese Erabacher Marcobrunn
2001 d'Arenberg Vintage Fortified Shiraz

Hands down, my WOTN was the 1986 Chateau Pichon-Longueville-Lalande. Huge thanks to DoktaP for bringing this!

Looking forward to the next offline after I get back from Italy. Arrivederci!

It was at a restaurant in Toronto, tj. Big Grin I don't want to name the venue online, because BYO isn't allowed in Ontario. It's a good restaurant that takes care of us, and we appreciate it.

Attendees:

Slan + Mrs. Slan
oakville_al + Mrs. oakville_al
carriedca
DoktaP
baird6869 + friend
futronic + 2 friends

Smile

Now all you have to do is get up to Toronto for an offline, tj!

Slan,

I don't have a digital. The photos will have to wait until I get back from Italy and have them developed.

Fut-- If Mrs. TJ and I decide to go see some hockey up north in Canada, Toronto is one of the places we're thinking about. If we do make it up that way, I'll be sure to tell ya!

I want to thank everyone for their hospitality this weekend. Fabulous line-up of wine.
I've posted my tasting as well, albeit mine are short.

The food was excellent, and service was great. Only comment would be that we did not get water refills often enough.

And I mentionned to a few of you that I might be back weekend of June 18th with my fiancee. We will both be at a work related conference. Still remains to be confirmed.

Again thanks to all of you for the great wines.

carriedca,

Thanks again for making the trip all the way down from Ottawa! Glad you had a good time, and hopefully you're able to come down on the weekend of the 18th. Another offline in the making! Smile

tj,

Hopefully you can make it up to Toronto at some point, but be forewarned that getting tickets is pretty tough unless you've got a connection.

TJ,
Tickets will NOT be a problem. One of us surely can accommodate a couple Leaf tix. Smile

Thanks again to everyone for bringing such great wines. My only complaint is that the wines were (as usual!) too good!!! Big Grin

Fut/DoktaP--

If I make it to Toronto, one of the main reasons will be to see a Leafs game, so I'll be scamming for tix well ahead of my heading up that way.... Wink

Again, sorry I missed it guys. My 22 hours in Toronto, which began the next day, were largely uneventful, though I did have a nice meal at Far Niente (bison filet), and a couple of decent Oz wines with which I was not previously familiar. It seems we cannot have two Ottawans at a TWC event at the same time. Confused

TJ - in case you haven't noticed, there is a hockey team here in Ottawa as well. It's not as good as the Leafs, of course, never mind the Mighty Bruins!

What you should really do is hit Toronto, then rent a car and drive the 4 hours to Ottawa for a game, then carry on the next day for 2 hours to Montreal for a game, then if you must return the car to Toronto, it's about 5 hours back. No probs.

You might even find nice people with whome to offline in each place....

Bruins rule!

You and carriedca are the same person, aren't you? It's like Polkaroo! Razz Big Grin

As for Far Niente, it's a nice spot. There are some gems on the wine list there at reasonable prices if you look hard enough. At least there was last time I was there.

Their desserts are excellent. The pastry chef does a real bang-up job.

No desserts this time, due to low-carbing and Survivor-finale-watching!

I think I'm OK for the 19th, but I don't have my June call schedule yet.
Carried, should we have a theme? What is your fiance's favourite varietal or region?
Do you want the same venue, or should we change?
PLMK and I'll see what I can arrange. Big Grin
