*bump* pierre à fusil - This reminds me of my very first attempt to get an offline going here in MD. I didn't get a response for 3 days, and then the first 3 posts to my thread were from Texas and Canada! We finally got something going and haven't looked back since. Be a squeaky wheel and keep the faith. Good luck! PH

HA! And look who chimes in? The first responder to my original, MD offline post! Ok pierre à fusil, now your first responses to your thread are from MD and TX. Probably bodes well for your chances of success! And as w+a mentioned in his post some 2 1/2 years ago, we could fly in for the right tasting. PH

I do appreciate the replies! Perhaps if I posted more frequently, I would have generated more interest, but I tend to be more of a lurker around here.
I nearly chimed in on the Chicago Italian offline since we're not far away, but came very late to the party and it was already wait-listed -- it's our anniversary anyway, so we probably wouldn't have been able to make it.
Anyway, Madison is an excellent host city, with multiple possible restaurant venues, as well as our home if it's a group less than a dozen. Our own cellar and tastes are a bit eclectic and international, perhaps leaning a bit toward Bordeaux, so if a theme was to emerge for a tasting here it might be along those lines. Not a lot of first growth stuff, but plenty of possibilities for interesting verticals or horizontals, at least back to the 80's. Champagne would also have to figure prominently, and a vintage Port or two would not be out of the question.
We've got a nice group of local old-time winos and neophytes to wine and dine with, but new friends are always in order. I'll keep at it, and will try to attend offlines in other cities if my schedule permits, if only to meet some folks. In the meantime, I'll keep a standing invitation open to anyone visiting this area...

Evidently, I need to check Off-line Events more often. I would be interested. You have to start somewhere, right? We live up in Wausau, but we get down to Madison fairly often.

depending on the date (a weekend would be a must) and our availability, the lady and I would think about heading up. We're in Chi-town but definitely have a madison visit on the list.

I live in Waukesha, but a weekend event would be a possibility for my wife and I.
