Home safe- hope everyone else is as well!

Many thanks to the Lentini's, as well as the rest of the Cru. It was another outstanding night and I look forward to June.

Great work Klymkev on beating PH to the thread, but does this mean you'll organize? Razz

Regarding a June offline; Kim and I can only do the weekend of June 20-22 (due to travel/kitchen stuff).

So either we'll see you then or in July! Smile

Ok, I've changed my mind Sarbuze. I can organize, but only because I am offering up my abode. Like you guys I am pretty booked in June, but my wife is taking the kids up to CT on 6/21, so I will be a bachelor 6/21 - 6/26. If you all want to trek down to DC again, I would be happy to host (parking available as well).

As for theme, we discussed a German Riesling theme the other night that sounded cool. Maybe we can start with that and add in a red theme of choice as well for the latter part of the dinner with some grilled meat(s)?

Very generous of you klymkev! The weekend of the 21-22 looks decent for me. My eldest daughter's birthday is the 21st, and I'm waiting to hear from her about plans. Details to follow.

I also like Riesling for this time around. I think we'd discussed doing Reisling followed by something red in the past. South America? If we're grilling meat, some Malbec might be in order. Thoughts?

Mighty magnanamous gesture, Mr. Klymkev! Unfortunately, I'll be out of town the weekend of the 21st. Sorry I won't be able to make it.

Mmmm, meat and malbec (insert slobbering Homer Simpson here).

I see flank steak with a south american chimichurri sauce in our future?!

That is a great date - and a reisling (y malbec if appropriate), und reisling (TBA, icewein, etc.) venue sounds great. Let me know how I can help!

Holy Cow! Two days into the month and the MD Crew already has a theme, location and date? Stop the madness.

All those in favor of attending, declare your intentions! I'll have to cap at 10 - 12 max due to a small dining room.

I want to also throw out the possibility of adding other red varietals from South America. Can anyone say Don Melchor?

We're in for 2, plus one maybe. One of my best friends is from Buenos Aires and would probably jump on a chance to have Malbec with steak + Chimichuri. I'll pressure him for some of his mom's recipes, whether or not he can make it!

Keep him as a maybe though and if we fill up otherwise then so be it.

klymkev,

I think that my wife wants to go to Phila that weekend to the Art Museum. However, if that is not the case, I'd love to attend if there is room. I have a 2000 Bodegas Caro Mendoza that is drinking well.

When in doubt, open another bottle.

Updated.

Please feel free to add thoughts on food that would accompany the wine theme.

I feel like the Rieslings can be used almost through the entire meal (early with apps. and/or salad, with flank if acidic enough for the spicy chimichurri sauce as m-driver suggested and with dessert of course).

The Malbecs obviously scream for the flank.

We are sitting at 8 right now, pending Mrs. Lentini and the Sarbuze's guest. As mentioned before, would like to stay at 10ish, 12 max.

Urgh, I'm actually going to a wedding at Lake Tahoe that weekend. I'm out... But I won't begrudge anyone having a good time without us. Hope to see you all in July.

I'm still trying to decide on if I am going to drive up to MA for a 3 day golf tournament. If I decide not to, I'm definitely in. You will have your definite answer soon.

So is this going to be on 6/21 (Saturday)? We're still in, just making sure so we're all clear.

Yes.

6/21. Time tbd, but likely in the 6 - 6:30 timeframe. I can do it whenever, so if everyone would rather start a bit earlier to make the drive home easier, no problem with me, just let me know.

I've decided to not travel up to MA for the golf tournament, so that weekend works fine for me. Please count me in. Thanks.
