Hey everyone, have a FANTASTIC time tonight. So this is what I get for hanging out at the Parker Board insteaed of hear, huh? Missed an offline that was right under my nose!

Pyang, Will be at DAV again on 2/24 (last time I was there--05/03--I met you in a group with Cave Girl) and just had dinner with him last Tuesday in SD area for one of his annual wine dinners. The 2001's properly decanted are MAGNIFICENT! I'll be checking out the '02 barrel samples keeping in mind your recent comment about them. I'll post on it afterwards.

Notes! I need notes!

I just wish that I didn't have to do my other group tasting last night, so I could've joined in on the festivities...

The following wines were consumed last night. The first nine are listed in the order of points received during the voting. All were tasted blind, with only the varietal known to all. Everyone then voted for their top 3 WOTNs.

1 - '00 Drinkward Peshon, Cab
2 - '01 Saxum Bone Rock, Syrah
3 - '01 Neal Family, Cab
4 - '97 Dry Creek Vineyard, Epoch II, Cab
5 - '99 Cakebread, Cab
6T - '99 Bond, Matriach
6T - '00 Mi Sueno, Napa Cab
8 - '01 Elderton, Shiraz (The TAA)
9 - '02 JJ Prum, Spatlese Reisling

Those not receiving any votes:

'01 Remo Farina, Bianco di Gostaza
'97 Kendall Jackson, Buckeye Cab
'97 Cakebread, Wine Hill Ranch, Cab
'01 Viader, Cab
'01 IO, Ryan Road VY, Syrah
'01 Paloma, Merlot

Very interesting results! Confused The WS WOTY didn't even make the top 9, the WOTN was from the '00 vintage, Bond only placed 6th and the Neal 3rd!

Great Wines, Great Food and Great Friends. A wonderful evening!

If that Paloma isn't in a decanter for 60-90 minutes beforehand, it just doesn't begin to show what it's made of...

Ver-r-r-r-ry Interestink!

I'm not surprised that the Neal and Saxum were in the top three, but what is 2000 Drinkward Peshon?? I've never heard of that one...

Anybody have some info?

Wow! Great tasting. Sorry that I missed it.

Last night was fun and it is always great to get together and have a few bottles of wine. I agree we almost forgot there was a merlot on the table. Tasting blind was interesting but more taxing.

TBird you are welcome to ride with us anytime.
NE14ZIN thanks for doing all the work setting this up.

I'll throw the points on here, 5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd.

1 - '00 Drinkward Peshon, Cab, 25pts
2 - '01 Saxum Bone Rock, Syrah, 21pts
3 - '01 Neal Family, Cab, 19pts
4 - '97 Dry Creek Vineyard, Epoch II, Cab, 12pts
5 - '99 Cakebread, Cab, 4pts
6T - '99 Bond, Matriach, 3pts
6T - '00 Mi Sueno, Napa Cab, 3pts
8 - '01 Elderton, Shiraz (The TAA), 2pts
9 - '02 JJ Prum, Spatlese Reisling, 1pts

Couple of quick notes that I will expand further in actual TNs when I get around to it.

First, not all wines received equal airtime.

Second, to answer HDW's quesion. Drinkward Peschon is a joint project of Lisa Drinkward, wife of Les Behrens of B&H and Francoise Peschon, winemaker of Araujo.
