NE14ZIN:

(referenced from the Neal thread on "main" forum):

Hey, Thanx for the invite if you got an extra seat open! I'd love to make it on the 24th if I can get a hallpass from wifey. can you send me your email or ph for a quicker response? i'm at "youndo@yahoo.com"

I have been to Cafe Plaka several times in the past, but not with the new owners. Previous experiences were all very good though. Nice lamb dishes.

Small world to find another FV denizen. I'm sure we've bumped elbows chasing those 2000 Bdx at the FV Costco Big Grin

Here is the scoop...

I will be down in OC for the weekend, but not sure if I can make it to the dinner as of yet.

If I do make it, likely to be 2 or 4 of us.

NE14ZIN, when do you need to know for sure?

Do as you like Tbird. I'll drink it if you bring it.

As for blind tasting, whatever floats your boat. You guys all know I'm famous for going with the flow and never getting involved in a disagreement with anyone in the world of wine. Wink

Youndo,

Hall pass from the wifey? Sounds like someone all too familiar.

Quite correct GA!
Actually I can't take issue with that statement! I don't think I have known of your involvement in a "disagreement with anyone in the world of wine."
I think your disputes belong in the world of whine!

Just a thought, if this is what the group wants, perhaps doing it single blind. With 20 wines a possibility, should probably group them accordingly...

p.s. Any special wine request from Napa?

As far as varietals, vintages, etc are concerned, it is fairly wide open. Since we are grouping by varietal for the reds, please stick with Cabernet, Pinot, Zin, Merlot and Syrah, as well as blends that are primarily from one of these. Whites can be anything.

All I ask is that each person remove the foil and bag the wine, if possible. I will bring extra bags and masking tape. The bottles will be labeled as a color, category, and a number. The categories will be fairly close to varietal type for the reds. As an example, if there are 6 cabs, they would be labeled Cab-1 through Cab-6. Whites, since we tend not to have too many of these, would be W-1 through W-5 or so.

After extensive tasting we will vote for the WOTN. Each person will select a first, second and third. After deciding the top three, everything will be "unbagged".

A special bottle, like the TAA, can come unbagged.

How does this sound? Hopefully it isn't too complex. After we get through tasting 20 bottles I may have to check my notes to see what to do next. Roll Eyes
