The mrs. and the little guy will be out of town the last week in August and didn't know if any seattle area/eastside area winos would be interested in popping a few corks on Friday, August 31st. I hadn't really thought anything through (location, theme, etc...) other than just trying to see if there is any interest in this date. Let me know.

mattach;
I just might be headed that way to visit my on-line retailer and OTR trucking friends. I'll keep you posted. I'd most likely be bringing my boss w/me - an avowed wino who set me on this path to financial ruin - I'm sure I can twist his arm.

BRR - Maybe we can make it an aussie shiraz / zinfandel / pinotage theme. Big Grin. We'll pair 'em with spit roasted polar bear. Razz Razz Razz

mattach,
Saw the post tonight, thanks for the heads up. Smile I've had my head down at work, and am training for another long bike ride, so haven't been paying attention much lately. Probably a little sour since I missed the outing at Ponti's Frown Glad to hear you all had a great time. I read the tasting notes tonight (Thanks BRR for submitting them).
I do have folks in town, supposedly, that weekend. I'll let you know if the plans change in the next couple of weeks, but I would love to tip a glass otherwise.

Looks like this is a no-go for both BRRs! Frown We're going to be on the other side of the mountains (just like this coming weekend...ugh) and we hope to get out of town early (and sober!!! Big Grin). Have fun, if this happens.

Cheers!

Mrs Ampuis asked me when Im going out again with the "cork dorks".
I took that as a cue to say the 31st. mattach, it could happen, and informal would be cool. I'm sure I have some more corked wine somewhere. Big Grin Big Grin

I love it!! I think we found our new group name - The Seattle Cork Dorks. Excellent!

Ampuis - I am definitely in for the 31st even if it is just a couple people...what about bordeaux or cali cab?

BRR - sorry you guys can't make it. Next time!

Man, I'll bet that was a killer wine. We opened a 98 Dunn Howell Mountain a few nights ago - I thought it was quite good myself.

I'll ping kybo to see what his status is for the 31st as well.

Well, I've got lots of Turley which qualifies for the high alcohol.

mattach, it looks like my niece (and her husband) are in town that week, and the prevailing interest is in a backpack trip. Better not count on seeing my mug. Have fun though and we'll catch up in the fall.

Count me in for this cork pulling, and it could be really informal.

MsBacchus - sounds good.

Sounds like kybo cannot make it as he won't be in town that day.

I have attendees as:

mattach
Ampuis (the mrs?)
MsBacchus

If everyione is still up for it, I'd still love to get together, even with just 3 attendees. Be nice to open a couple of nice bottles that night. I was thinking of one of the following places but would love to hear what everyone else thinks as well as other ideas:

- Volterra (Ballard)
- Dinette (Capital Hill)
- Beato (West Seattle)
- Harvest Vine (Magnolia)
- Tilth (Wallingford)
- Other???

Thoughts everyone...

Not sure if this will sway your decision at all, but once I get back into town, I'm planning on walking to Volterra and trying to set something up for our next offline. But I did hang out with Kevin the day after Ponti (he was working at Ponti the night we were there, but he is moving over to Tilth) and he told me that once he is established over at Tilth - we would be more than welcome over there for a nice offline.

Have a great time with the Pinotage!!!!

Tilth sounds good to me too. I'll see if I can make some reservations later this week. Any other restaurant ideas? Ampuis, should I add the mrs. to the list?
