Don't know if you NYers saw or not, but the NYC date(s) are the only ones out of all the locations to be open to consumers. All the others are trade/media only.
Bummmer for me in DC, I really would like to expand my Spanish wine knowledge.

How do you know the quality of wine you are getting? $60 and a charity event tells me cheap wine - just from experience ("try this bottle, and it's only $8!"), though I've never gone to THIS event before.
It is for charity, so that's good. I wouldn't travel in for this. If I'm bumping shoulders and eating on small plates - I need to be promised very good wine

I was thinking $60 seemed pretty reasonble. Sure, you don't know what wines you are getting, but I don't think the "Wines of Spain" are going to be putting out plonk... especially since this serves to "promote" their wines.
At any rate, even if the wine and food are mediocre, with the money we donate each year (to colleges, cancer funds, various friends running in this marathon, or that 5K), it'll be nice to get something besides a tax deduction!!!
Go HOKIES!!!
