Planowino,

I got off the phone with Kevin. As long as it is only 2 more maximum(restaurant limit), we are ok.

I hope the restaurant is as well.

That's my concern too. I just saw this and tried to get KSC02 on his cell. Voice-mail. Hopefully he will call me back quickly, which he did as I'm typing this. PW, we are good. Your friends will make us 16, which is the max the restaurant will allow us.

Whew!! I kept counting the list and only saw 9 - 10 with declarations and at least two drop outs. I thought we were well within the limit.

I am glad they can come. They originally were going to be with my daughter tonight but she took off to spend the night with some friends and left them high and dry.

Thanks to all of the Montreal crew for welcoming PlanoWino, the Mrs. and our friends from NJ to your outstanding right bank offline. We had a wonderful time. It isn't often you get to try so many fine wines at one offline. The restaurant was outstanding as well. Thanks for everything and do come to Texas. We will do our best to reciprocate.

Hey,

We totally enjoyed your presence too. The worst thing is that we might have to reciprocate Smile

An incredible evening spent with an eclectic mix of friends. Not a bad wine in the bunch and all drinking very well.

It was a pleasure as well to finally meet mareff and his brother, and always a pleasure to break bread with PW. A great evening that ended, for a few of us, at the Whiskey Cafe pairing Cuban cigars and good whiskey.

Definitely a great evening and a pleasure to spend some time with our NY and Texan visitors. Nobody has mentioned their favourite wines yet? Mine was the 1990 Chateau Trotanoy, followed by the 1990 Heidsieck Blanc de Millenaires Champagne and the 1996 Cheval Blanc.

For my part, my favourites were the very floral and captivating Cheval Blanc 1996,secondly the Chateau l'Evangile 1996 and tied for third were the Fleur de Gay 1995 and Trotanoy Pomerol 1990, with very honorable mention to the Quartz de Chaume 1999 . Olfactory oddity wine of the night has to be the Chateau l'Angelus 1988, tasting rather well, but smelling like rotten cabbage soup meets Mr. Ed.
All in all, a great tasting.

Favorite wines, in order of preference:

1982 Chateau Figeac (WOTN)
1996 Cheval Blanc (such a light and floral nose. Gorgeous complexity on the palate)
1990 Trotanoy (a solid wine. Singing that night.)

The 1990 Heidsieck Blanc de Millenaires was singing. A gorgeous Champagne and a marked stepup, comparatively, to the 1995. So much vintage variation in the Champs. They're so vintage sensitive.

Hey, Mimikos. Nahh, it was quite an interesting thing actually to try and equate smell and taste, and it was tasting fine, so hey, you drink and learn, not a bad gig, i say :P

Well we made it home at 11:30 PM tonight (Sunday) with fond memories of Montreal and of all of you. At the risk of being arrested for copyright infringement "Thanks for the memories" everyone.

well I finally made it home after driving for about 8 hours or so(I think that the NY state troopers were working overtime this past weekend). A hats off to the Montreal folks, great company and fantastic wine.

My wines of interest were the:
Ch Figeac, 1982
Ch La Fleur de Gay, 1995
Ch Cheval Blanc, 1996

although the barn yard stench of Angelus is one for the memories, it was overshadowed by mimik's company Wink
