Teenaged girls, so presumably yes, though I'm not well versed in Japanese boozing customs!
In all seriousness, Ottawa is full of tourists year-round, but especially in the summer, thanks to the museums, galleries and Parliament (think Washington DC) the major ones of which are all downtown or within walking distance of. Many come by bus on short tours from Montreal, Toronto and the US. Whether we offlined or not, you may wish to look into at least a day trip here, since you will be north of the 45th for a week. ------------------- Go Bruins!! Go Tigers!! Go Pistons!! Go Lions!! |

You are indeed a champion for your city. It helps to get the other side of the story. You would be surprised what my friends from
Toronto say about Ottawa (not futronic by the way). But then, I suspect their ire is directed at the ON government and not the dear citizens of Ottawa. |

True, though. We're certain to be drinking some grand Porto post dinner at the resto
Not to mention great Champagne to start the evening. |

Might be true but not a very safe option.
We also have some friends that will have driven in from NJ to join us who we will have left behind with our daughter. We should probably go back and join them. |

Just to let everyone know, the downtown area, where the hotels and restaurants are located, are in close proximity to each other. ie 5-10 minutes apart by car. So, it is relatively inexpensive to Cab your way around the city.

Since we are leaving Saturday for Montreal, maybe this would be a good time to confirm that YoYo's is located at: 4720 Rue Marquette (near Laurier E. and Papineau).
If it is, that is about 1.5 miles from where we are staying (Ave Laval). We could probably walk it going but who knows if we could find our way home afterwards. |

Yep, you got it correct (Tel: 514-524-4187). Up to you to walk it. Might be nice. Either way, a taxi would get you there quickly before, or after. The resto can call taxis after if necessary. All you have to do is remember your address PW. Have a safe trip and see ya Friday! |

Hey guys, I guess we now know when the next Montreal offline will be! What is this place that serves great ports by the glass, BTW? Or did I misunderstand? ------------------- Go Bruins!! Go Tigers!! Go Pistons!! Go Lions!! |

To be clear, Whisky Cafe specializes in that. Whiskey. However, they also do offer a few Port wines. When I looked at the menu, I didn't notice any 'greats' by any means. However, they did look likely enjoyable. They DO offer a Port tasting, however I don't recall the details of the 3 wines offered.
Mimik can likely fill in those details, though. |
