I am open for a theme...

If most of the restaurants have no corkage then it makes no difference about price..(well some difference)

What are people in the mood for? Looking forward to heading up North for some electic french cooking and canadian culture...

Great suggestion, mareff.

My suggestion would be Yo-Yo's with an arrangment to drop their 2 seating issue (it's been done before) Wink.

I'd also suggest French wine (Bordeaux maybe) to go with the French theme (our guest's request).

Just a thought. Cool

Oh! no worries... late July in Montreal. You'll be surrounded by PLENTY of French Canadian culture. Big Grin

You should get to choose the theme as you are the guest.

Just a small clarification regarding corkage and BYOBs. In Quebec, corkage is illegal and as such you cannot bring your wine to a restaurant that already has a liquor licence. So you are necessarily forced to go to a BYOB restaurant when bringing your own wine.

Do we have it at 9 so far..only reason I ask is that we might have to up it to two bottles each since there are more people. Thoughts??

We're often at 12 (trust me, we'll get there easy) for our off lines and one bottle isn't an issue. If we push to 14 or so, THEN it can become an issue. No worries. Wink

I seem to have gotten lost on when this is going to be. It would a great excuse for me to bring my wife and daughter to visit Montreal for a few days. Anyone else have teenage kids that might want to show my 15 year old daughter around Montreal one day? She speaks French. We do not.

How about we check the 1998 Pommerol/St Emillion area. Or is that to early??

Or on another 10 year note..New Zealand and Central Coast Cali reds are supposed to be awesome.

What do you guys do with respect to price range?? No reason to break the bank so to speak....

mareff,

They're all good suggestions. We'll sort this out over the next few weeks. I don't want to speak out ahead of the Montreal group. Let's see what's best. It's all good.

I will most probably be on vacation on those dates.
I'm waiting for confirmations in the next weeks as to when exactly I will be able to take off.
So if I am in town, I will be there !

I'm liking the Right Bank talk. Not sure if we should 'limit' it to '98. Your thoughts guys? We DID recently suggest this as a 'theme' and yet to do one.

There WAS some discussion regarding the Right Bank today, mareff. Unless you've changed your mind, at the moment this is still a good direction. Just give the word. Smile
