for those left in Manhattan this weekend, we put together a list of rare and esoteric Italians that you won't typcially find at a tasting; the Anfora wines of Gravner, the organic approach that Movia is using for its sparkling production, the rare Villa dei Misteri, Mastroberardino’s experimental wine from the site of a 2.5-acre plot utilized for cultivation at the time of Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 A.D., Quintarelli’s Rosso del Bepi, the declassified Amarone that begs the quesiton, if this is his declassified how good is his DOC, a 13-year-old Flaccianello from Fontodi, the ripe 2003 Sammarco and Bartolo Mascarello’s 2001 Barolo, a wine that should be reconsidered.
This is an unusual list and should be of interest to those looking to experience some of the inspirational wines of Italy. For more information, visit the Collector's Tasting of Italy's Inspirational Wines.

Wow, what a list! 'Wish I could be there. Thanks for the heads-up; I didn't realize that IWM did such tastings. I'll keep an eye out for such things the next I'm town.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
