OK, we are (hopefully) coming back the weekend of March 14. Who is around? Was thinking Cucina Toscana, mostly because their pasta is amazing, but can certainly be open to other suggestions.

Ahhh, Cucina Toscana and Walter's impeccable service. I do miss Salt Lake City. If I could fit in a visit, would you welcome a current out-of-towner?

14th of March works for me, but let me check the with the boss.

stickman, anyone who has warm feelings for SLC is more than a welcomed guest. I second the motion for Cucina Toscana. When we get a little closer to the date, I can take care of the reservation once we get a head count and all that jazz.

Excellent - Stickman - if you can make it, that would be excellent.

I checked with LPSkeleton to see if he could make it. He is on the US Skeleton team and trains here and Lake Placid. Sounds like he is going to be in Lake Placid on March 14th. I have become really interested in Burgundy wines over the past two years after a couple of trips there. A good friend of mine went there in 2002, and recommended the place. I had not tried the wine, except for one really bad 1996 l'enfant Jésus, but I took the trip anyway, because it sounded fun. Really loved the place, and the wines. I would like to open a Burgundy. I am thinking about bringing one from the cellar.

1989 Gros Frere et Sœur Grands-Echezeaux
2002 Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Au Velle
2002 Louis Latour Corton-Grancey
2002 Bouchard Père et Fils Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos St. Mar2002 Edmond Cornu & Fils Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Moutotte2003 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets St. Georges
2003 Domaine de L'Arlot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts St. Georges

I am leaning toward the 1989 Grands Echezeaux. Any thoughts?

I barely missed meeting up with you guys last time you were out and I know that I missed on another occasion. I will be in the SLC area at least 2, and possibly 3, more times this ski season. Once is for business but I always find a way to fit some leisure time in. I can most likely arrange to see some customers in that area around this date. One of my favorite SLC dining spots is Fresco Italian Cafe. Does anybody know if it is still serving good food? It's been awhile since I've been there.

This is shaping up to be a lot of fun! There will be 4 of us (bringing our friends this time, RR, not my parents.)

We will figure out our wines at some point after we get our airline tickets... As for the location, you guys pick.

I'll ask my ex-girlfriend; she lives less than a block away.

Thanks for the welcome, Ray and Jcocktosten. I'll do my best to make it. Ray, an '89 Gros Frere would be most generous of you. All of my Pinots (if that's a theme we'd like to pursue) are much younger, and I'm afraid I'd have to bring two wines to match-up to such a offer. I look forward to this; 'should be lots of fun. Smile

Fresco is still open and is very good, but a little small for groups. It makes a better summer venue than a winter venue with its outdoor seating. My vote is still for Cucina Toscana, in part because I have been to Fresco 3 times since the past summer and haven't been to Cucina Toscana in over a year. Last time I went there, it was with a good sized group, and they did well serving all of us.

No suggestion that this should be a Pinot or Burgundy event. I just like to open bottles that I have never tried and ones that sound interesting. So far, I don't see any conflicts with Saturday March 14th after checking with the g-friend.

Second that... and third, if you like; my ex concurs.

Very well; tasting theme (if any) is still open. Nonetheless, may I say it's a nice show of generosity and a welcomed display of the quality participants can expect. I can't confirm for another couple weeks, but it looks encouraging at this point. Smile

Everyone, my wife and I would like to join you if we are in town and will know a little closer to March 14. Has anyone ever been to the restaurant "Tiberon". I highly recommend it, if fact it is my favorite restaurant rating right up there with Rose Mary's in Las Vegas. Anyway, any restaurant/any wine theme, it is all good! Please keep a spot for us.

ktf-

Tiburon - the word shark in Spanish - is less than five minutes from my house. I agree that it is one of the best-kept secrets in the SL Valley.

I am still trying to confirm that my wife and I will be available on March 14th. We would love to join the group.

ktf and gigabit, what if the three of us take a rain check on Tiburon and meet in the middle? MLV and the JcockT and their two friends are driving from Park City. I'm not sure they have a car. They may only use taxi or shuttle service. If so, SLC may be their only option. It might be difficult for them to make it all the way down to Sandy, Utah. What do you think MLV and JcT. Does the distance of the drive matter to you? It's probably 50 minutes drive to Sandy from Park City, and probably 35 minutes from Park City to downtown SLC. Downtown may be more of a middle ground for everyone.

Cool, my wife and I have penciled in the 14th. Is Cucina Toscana our destination? If so, I would like to bring some Italian wine(s).

mlv, you don't need a reservation for a Waffle House. Razz

Ray, do you want to handle the reservation?
