My wife and I are going to Merced, CA, to visit family, and will be spending a couple of days in the SF area on our way down. Anyone up for dinner/offline on Mar. 15 or 16?

We'll be staying at the Berkeley Marina, but will have a car and are willing/able to go a bit further afield (though not to LA Smile ).

Cheers.

Seaquam, I'll be pretty busy that week (dormant vines will arrive on the 15th and I'll need to get them on site), but we're having a BBQ in San Jose on the 20th if your still around for the weekend.

tlily -- unfortunately, that's the day we'll be back in Vancouver; otherwise, I'd volunteer to assist in the planting (is it planting, or grafting?)

Hey, offlines are held at night, when you can't be planting. And you do have to eat, right? Smile

Cheers.

grunhauser, pyang -- Olivetos at 7:45 (I'm hoping you're familiar with this restaurant) on Mar. 15. Reservation has been made for 12 people. Lafon Rochet is taking care of arrangements.

Shall I tell her to include y'all as well?

Anyone else still interested?

Cheers.

PE -- the adventuresense is willing, but the time is constrained. Aren't you going to be up here prior to an Alaska cruise? Otherwise, we can wallow in WallaWalla.

pyang -- "... my personal request..." This isn't going to involve driving the little donkey and the Budweiser Clydesdales together again, is it? Tyee warned me that you can be trouble. Big trouble.

grunhauser -- absolutely! We've been informed that we need to visit our nieces more often during their formative years than we have been doing. An hour away from wine country adds a certain irresistible appeal to me.

Cheers.

My bad for not posting earlier. I'm down with the reservations. We're in Oakland at Oliveto's at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, March 15, featuring the Honorable Seaquam and Mrs. Seaquam.

Below are the attendees:

Seaquam + 1
Lafon +1
Skwid
SF Wine
Pyang
Eric Lundblad
GATC + 1
Eric and Teri White

I've alerted Oliveto's that the "wine group" will be arriving so they have been forewarned.

Seaquam: We are in search of a theme for the wines. Can you help a sister out?

Seaquam,

Not quite sure where you are going with the donkey and Clydesdales, but whatever you heard from the crazy Canadian is not true... Razz Wink

A word of warning to all those who dine with the Seaquam's...

You may recall the character Bluto played by John Belushi in the movie Animal House...well actually the character is based on the real-life Seaquam when he attended University.
Trust me, he has not mellowed with age...
Secretly advise the kitchen to substitute mashed potatoes if ordered by Seaquam...and if you hear the two words 'Food Fight'...Duck!
Razz Wink Big Grin

I offer sound advice.
That's 99% sound and 1% advice

I've received word from "on high" that we should go with bringing whatever we feel would complement the food. Thus, I suggest everyone bring something special that they'd like to share.

Please note that Seaquam does not get alot of the California cabs that are readily available to us down here. I believe he is bringing Italian, which is always a winner in my book and an easy pairing for Oliveto's food.

I'm thinking of a '98 Lewelling Wight Vineyard, '00 Failla Pinot, '99 Truchard Syrah, '01 Martinelli G&L zin, '90 Mondavi Reserve, or I may bring something entirely different.

No need to post what you're bringing, although you may if you like. Nonetheless, I'm sure whatever we bring will be enjoyable and enjoyed.

Does this say Mar 15???

Where is the restaurant? I am arriving in the morning of the 15th at SF. My hotel is in San Mateo, and I have a car.

Please advise, it would be a cool co-incidence!!
