If it is woodbridge, I will have to watch the sopranos and the godfather series over the holidays in order to assimulate. Big Grin

If you want to assimilate try watching Johnny Stecchino, Cinema Paradiso or better yet read The Mysterious Flame of Queen Luana... If can't find any of those, watch "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Kindly add asterixis and his lovely Mrs. Ast to the roll call.
It looks like things are gradually shaping up.
Should be another hall of fame event!

Date: Sat. Jan. 20th, 2007
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Tentative

Roll call:

Confirmed:

futronic (1)
Slan (2)
Duojet (2)
StarV100 (2)
aav28 (1)
carriedca (2)
wineguyinTO (2)
DoktaP (2)
basecadet (1)
Mezzo Litro (2)
Asterixis (2)

Tentative:

Slan (+2)
StarV100 (+2)
wineguyinTO (+2)
maverickdrinker (2)
basecadet (+1)

The cutoff for confirmations will be Thursday, December 21st. Anything after that will go on a waiting list. I need firm numbers to book the venue.

Right now I'm looking more at a downtown venue based on feedback from various members. I'm in talks with Acqua right now. Unfortunately the Waterfall room we were in last year is already booked, so we'd be in the main restaurant, and while not preferred, the venue does offer proximity to TTC, GO, etc. Depending on how things go, I may also look at Bodega.

Will report back with more information.

Theme?

If the venue happens to be the one in Woodbridge, being a steakhouse, maybe...California?

As each table will be responsible for organizing their own wine selections, they can set a theme if they so desire.

Fut,
Should we take a poll and determine in a democratic way if the venue should be downtown or in Woodbridge? What say ye?

Sure, but if you add up the votes already in the thread, more people want a downtown venue.

Usually, I don't mind following the pack. This time however, for some strange reason Wink, I would have to side with Woodbridge - if we're going to vote, of course.

Futronic

Is there any chance that the venue can be downtown and that Baird be at a table in Woodbridge (vice versa works too)?

We might be able to work something out in that regard. Wink

Nobody will be surprised to learn that my vote is for a downtown venue.

I vote for the Bahamas.

Seriously though, I choose Woodbridge.

Downtown for me.

Futronic, when I was calling around last year, I found that in order to give us a room, Bodega needed a $ guarantee that I thought exceeded the amount we would be spending. I don't remember the amount, but it was large.

Sheesh! A guy drops a few pounds, turns into a lightweight drinker and now I am sent to the back of the bus!?!? Confused

Maybe I will just stay home and drink my Malivoire Old Vines Foch magnums by myself then. Wink

My only venue request is that it isn't far from public transport if it is downtown.

mavbabe and I are in. The berrys are in as well. I have 2 additional newbies to bring too.

If they are allowed to vote, we all would like downtown venue please.

Now....where's that Screwpull?

Due to an incredibly terrible experience at Acqua a couple of weeks ago, I vote for anywhere but there.

If it ultimately ends up being there, I may attend but Mrs. Baird likely won't.

I second that. Not impressed with Acqua. Prefer somewhere else.

Carriedca... I still haven't told you the parking pass story from the drive home. Nothing like being screamed at on the phone in the car by a psycho waiter. Eek

I think Futronic has finalized the anniversary offline. I know he's home for the holidays and will undoubtedly post when all the details are honed. My understanding is that there will be something for everyone, great food, fair prices, and the usual frivolity.
There may even be a few surprises Wink
