Me and Brashley are having a offline at the country club I work at. CDP will be the theme but others are bringing zins too. Will start at 5 pm and go to 9 pm. Free parking no corkage we'll have unlimited riedel glasses in a private room with china. We'll order off the menu. Only catch is we have to pay cash because they don't take credit cards because I'm the only employee they let have dinners on premise with alchohol. Sounds like we have at least 8 people now with wineglas joining. The phone number for Edina country Club is 952-927-7151 and they will give you directions or you can google them. If we get alot of people we will ask to have everyone bring one bottle for each person and if we get over 12 people we will try to have each person bring two bottles of the same wine per two people attending so everyone gets a taste of each wine. I will bring a notebook to document each wine to post notes later and will ask others to help with notes too. This will be a great night. Razz

Planning an offline nine months in advance.... Confused

Are you pregnant?

I think w/wineglas, we now have 9, unless Steve is not coming. I will be in attendance with 5 others.

I don't know how you like to do tastings, but I'm a big fan of brown-bagging/coding with the grand reveal at the end -- forces people to be honest Wink - and it's fun seeing what surprises this format brings!

I would love to do a blind tasting format. I used to do this all the time and you always get the surprise winners.

wineglas, blind would be ok with me but I want ask others if it's ok and no one would be intimidated. Lets try to have a total head count by Dec 23rd so I can make the reservation a week in advance. Sounds like everyone wants to keep it at 12 people max so right now we have brashley +5, myself and wineglas, so sounds like 8 people right now. If no one else wants to come I'll bring my roomate steve but I'll leave the last four spots free for others to join. Razz Johnny.

Brashley said he was bringing Turley's if we had alot of people but now that we have capped it of at twelve I'm thinking he'll do CDP. Sounds like for sure we have Brashley +5, wine glas and myself for sure to make 8. With two of wineglas friends pending along with my roomate steve. Even if we have 8 to ten that would be good because there would be a larger pour per person. Razz

My wife and I are not intimidated by the brown bagging, and my other four guests won't mind at all, and will probably find it "fun and adventurous" (only 1 of the 4 is really serious about wine at all, the other 3 will participate and have a great time, but will probably need some help through the tasting, i.e.: how to score, some common descriptors, how to judge a wine's appearance, depth, etc... nonetheless, they're all very excited to attend and, like myself, are looking forward to the event.) BTW, local wine shop by me just got more of the '05 Autard Cote Ronde in, so that will, in all liklihood, be one of the contributions for the evening Smile

I will bring a bunch of handouts as I do professional wine tastings. It is always easier to figure out what the aromas are when there are descriptors in front of you.

The blind format is fun for all and I think the best way to learn wine.

PurpleHaze,

While I know you have a busy schedule in Minneapolis on the 30th, are you sure you could not work this off-line in?

It has your name all over it... including handouts! Cool

Thanks. That's a great idea. Do you have any tasting mats (where you put coded glasses on particular parts of the mat, so you don't lose track of which glass is which?) If you do, can you bring those? If you don't, I'll be glad to make some for us. Smile

That is good to know, thanks. It it your sense that after (suitable) decanting/airtime it would be the same/similar to (several) years down the line?

Of course not but I also am not going to pay $100 plus for older vintages on line. I don't collect CDPs as whole.

I have started collecting some of the 04s and 05s so I will let you know in ten years how they are doing.
