I'll bring a bottle of 2000 Oliver's Taranga "HJ Reserve" McLaren Vale Shiraz, which was recently named 2003 Wine of the Year by WineState magazine.
Been dying to try it since I found it at tastewine2's store a couple weeks ago, after trying to score some in Sydney to no avail. Cheers, Otis |

Geez, I'm trying to decide whether or not to go to this. I'm pretty allergic to cigarette smoke and I know they allow smoking there... But I handled Bin 36 OK, so if it's not worse than that I may be OK.
Should I give it a go, and potentially have to leave early if it's too smoky, or should I stay away because there will be smokers in our group? Nancy |

My girlfriend and I don't smoke, so we would be at least three. Go for it.

I will bring a 1997 Vignavecchia Rosso dei Colli della Toscana Centrale Raddese. I will be there probably between 5:30 and 6:00.

FYI - The Gaja (GUY-ya) was pretty spectacular. We were treated to 4 vintages of his Barbaresco, 3 nice whites, a meritage, a cab, and 2 single vineyard Barbarescos. After the tasting, the guy sitting next to me (Matt from the WCWN board) and I were able to meet Angelo and scavage the room for undrank '89's and the single vineyard Barbarescos. I'll post a recap in the TN section when I find the time, but it was way worth the $50!

J3. You changed your mind about the Tenuta Nuova. I was looking forward to that
I will bring a 1997 Castell'in Villa Santa Croce. See you all on Friday night. |

Steve- do you want to try the 1988 Santa Croce next to the 1997? I can bring one. The CWM has all tried it already. I was actually thinking of buying something there, I think that appeases the gods of corkage, but I certainly don't mind bringing an 88 Santa Croce.
******** Yes, but I came here for an argument. Oh! Oh! I'm sorry, this is abuse. |

Grossie. What a question. Twist my arm.
I was also torn between bringing and buying. Figure I'll only bring one and expect to buy another. |

It looks like I'll try to go Friday, and since I only got my Vinocraft last June and have only begun aging some wine that's not there yet, probably I should be the person to buy there to help with corkage.
So after we figure out what we're bringing hopefully I'll find something interesting in their store to go with it. I could probably get there by 5pm. Nancy |

I will not be bringing the 1999 Quinto do Crasto Douro Reserva. I mistakenly thought the TAA was this weekend instead of March 27th. I will bring this wine to the CWM vs. ORV tasting on the 27th and will find something else to bring on Friday.
Looks like it might be a Tuscan happy hour with the way the wines are shaping up. I'll take a look at what I have and try to bring something that fits in. VM |

I'll be there by 5. We can meet either in the store or upstairs. Don't be fooled by the small size of the wine bar downstairs, the space is muchg larger and nicer upstairs.

CWM et al,
Steve8 will be representing all of the dispersed wine geeks from the likes of Montreal and Philly. If he fails to hold up (or drink up?) his end, please advise so that we can repair our reputations. We realize we are taking a risk sending him to stand up for us, but it is the best we can do on short notice! At least he likes Italian wine..... Regards, DBW |

I was just thinking it looks like Otis is the only one bringing an Aussie wine.
If anyone wants to see more Aussie wine, I've got some good stuff, I've been doing a lot of shopping at tastewine2's store and they have lots of good Aussies (the owner and manager both love that region particularly). Nancy |

Go for it, Nancy. I think another Aussie bottle will help prevent my lonely bottle from sticking out like a sore thumb. I'm worried it will taste like a port next to all those austere Italian wines.
Cheers, Otis |

steve8,
Sorry to switch wines on you, but everything I've seen indicates the 1995 Casanova di Neri needs more time. Come back through Chicago in a couple years and I'll open up a bottle. J3 ************* Make sure it works. |

Sorry Steve8, I can no longer attend this event. Also, I haven't had much of an opportunity to investigate the ORV-CWM hosting facility. So, if someone wants to pick up the ball on that one ...

Should we congregate in the store until at least 2-3 of us show up tonight? At least it'll give us something to look at while we wait for someone.
I plan on hitting the store area somewhere between 4:30 and 5pm, likely around 4:45, depends on how easily I find a cab... Nancy |

I've decided to go in a completely different direction. I'll be bringing the following wine from Lebanon.
1996 Chateau Kefraya Comte de M I have not tried it; but, Parker liked it. VM |
