Wine..owe

I keep hearing people quitely rave about the Karl Lawrence. I need to try some.

Isn't it amazing though how Laube's score killed the market value for Viader? Sam's Club had the syrah too for $28.

I'd be glad to substitute a bottle each of the Karl Lawrence and the O'Shaughnessy for the '97 BV GdL if you guy prefer, and still bring an "outdoor" wine also. Having had the BV recently I can tell you it's drinking well, but I can still bring that if you'd prefer. Let me know by email or a post here.

Wish I could be there, but unfortunately my fiance and I must be at work Monday morning and the drive back to fargo is just a bit to far. If there is ever a off line on a saturday you can count us in.

Sounds like it will be a good time with lots of great wines to be tasted. I'll be looking forward to the notes.

montrachet61,

Thanks. Normally taking monday off would not be a problem, but seeing as I'll be taking that thurs and fri and the following mon and tues to head to SD, i figure I should hang a round and try to get some work taken care of.

Enjoy the wines and bbq!!

A note to formally thank Mr. & Mrs. MplsWineGuy for hosting last night's American Cabernet tasting. You guys did a FANTASTIC job--A++. The hospitality was terrific, the attendees all terrific, and the wines were simply spectacular!! I look forward to MplsWineGuy posting the full list, and the winner of "Wine of the Night"

Looking forward to the next tasting--either Alsace or Sauvignon Blanc.

Here is the full list of wines, along with the voting results for "Wine of the Night", as compiled by our friend and host, MplsWineGuy.

Had a casual backyard bbq at my house with ws offline regulars with a few friends. We laughed and cried and had a good time. It wasn't a serious tasting, we were wandering around talking, I was hosting so I was doing the food and greeting, It was a american cabernet theme, and it was a cool night so the wines didn't get hot. We grilled meats and had smoked salmon and capers and lots of bread, cheese and meats and salads. For those who came early to help we had a gregory graham 2001 knights valley viognier and a 2001 kistler dutton ranch chard. The wines we tasted were " Barnett spring mountain 1998". "Whitehall Lane 2001 napa valley" . "Sebastiani 2001 alexander valley"." Cheateau st jean 1991 reserve sonoma county"." St clement 1997 napa valley"." Chappellet prichard hill 1997"."O'shaughnessy 2001 napa valley". "Viader 1997 napa valley". " Pride mountain vineyard 2001 napa valley". "Neal family 2001 napa valley". "Titus 1997 napa valley". "Tay 1997 napa valley". "Beaulieu vinyards georges des latour reserve 1997". "Quilcida creek 2001 red mountain". "Whitehall lane 1998 reserve napa valley". " Darioush 1999 napa valley". "La Jota 2001 napa valley cab franc". All wines were mostly cabernet except for the La jota. The wine of the night vote was the Pride mountain vineyards 2001 cab, it was awsome but I thought the 1991 Chateau st jean reserve sonoma was the most structured, elegant, and ready to drink and was my wotn. The O'shaughnessy was my contribution and showed well and in a few years with the pride should be outstanding. Sorry my computer is on the fritz, but if anyone has had these wines chime in. I knew nothing about the titus and the tay cabs so if anyone has info on them please reply. Thanks, mpls wine guy.

With 18 wines to try, I never got to them all.

I missed out on these; Darioush, La Jota CF, Titus, Chappellet, Terra Valentine and Tay. I've had the Darioush before and know its good.

Most memorable for me...
01'Pride Cab
91'C St. Jean Res Cab(mag)
97' BV G Latour
01' O Shaughnessy
01' Whitehall Lane

You know, they were all above average. I was having too much fun to take a bunch of notes.

Thought the Quilceda Creek was a little closed when I tasted it.
