The Twin Cities offline group is planning its next offline for Sunday, July 18. The theme is American Cabernet Sauvignon. We are planning the tasting around a bbq at the home of MplsWineGuy in south Minneapolis. All are welcome. The offline will start around 6:00 that afternoon. If you are interested, just post a response here, and we'll arrange getting the details out to everyone shortly before the event.

Sounds like we have 11 people so far, thats a good number so everyone can hang out and we can fit inside for the feature wines. I have some riedel glasses but I'm sure craig and david will bring some more. Will be a great time.

LOL--I don't even dare pick up a Sommelier in the store, much less buy them and try and hand wash them myself!

P.S. I'll be bringing two wines. The first is a 1997 St. Clement, which was generously donated to the Twin Cities offline community, at our first offline in 2002, by H.R.H. King of Hearts. The other wine is still TBD.

Actually, I'll be bringing the standard Riedels. There are a couple other local Twin City wine geeks who may join us on the 18th. I'll post their names when they confirm.

MPLS CDP Dude, does any one know someone with a bottle of the 01' QCreek Cab to try?

I could possibly help there. I'm trying to convince my wife that meeting with people from an Internet forum doesn't always mean "abduction by serial killer". We'd like to join in and I could probably spare a 2001 Quilceda Creek, but I have many other older Cal cabs I'd like to try.

Madd Dogg--those all sound great. Pick what most appeals to you.
In addition to the 97 St. Clement, I think I'll bring the 2001 Whitehall Lane, as I am very anxious to try it. |

I stopped by Sam's Club Eagan and saw the 01' Viader for $35. A tempting item for the offline but I have my picks allready. Maybe we should do a group buy and checkout this wine that Laube crushed?

FYI, I was told by one of our local retailers with several stores that one of the locations sent back all of their '01 Viader after a tasting that revealed it really wasn't very good. It might be worth trying, especially if we could taste it side-by-side with another vintage of Viader.

BTW, I just tried both the '01 O'Shaughnessy and '01 Karl Lawrence tonight and at $45 each I think either of these would be a better choice to sample versus the Viader at $35. The KL was Sheryl's favorite, more Bdx-like ... a bit of earth and leather flavors (I thought almost slightly "bretty") but still with noticeable fruit coming through, while the O'S was slightly more acidic and was brighter with more fruit showing. Both were very well balanced and very nice.
