Yes, another "Official CDP Thread". There has been a lot of interest expressed in the Cubs/Mets game on Friday. I dont think we will be able to get group tickets because the cubs usualy sell out. We could all arrange to meet up at the hotel and share cabs over, if its too far to walk, or meet up at a local bar before or after the game for a pint or three. My wife and I are probably going to just scalp tickets before the game rather than go through a ticket broker site like stub hub and pay some ridiculous premium.

We can get a good list going of who is interested in going and if a local would be kind enough to chime in with a bar near wrigley it would be greatly appreciated. See everybody there!

ps. Otis, Chicago should cut you some kind of revenue enhancement check for all the tourism you are bringing the city. Wink

My flight will not land until 12:50 CST. Eek I will probably go directly to the ballpark. I would love to meet up after the game. Would someone be willing to "score" me a ticket out front? I doubt that I'll make it for first pitch. Mad

MJ, as long as I am there why not do everything I can. It helps that my wife will have just graduated from Graduate school and I have a ridiculous amount of time off saved up so we dont have to worry about the vacation days and can go up Thursday morning.

Also, I am a huge sports fan and have always wanted to go to Wrigley. Every time I have been to Chicago though, there has always been a conflict and I couldnt go. This time there is no way I am not going.

If I had the time, I would do the same. Congrats to your wife; I look forward to meeting you both.

There is no shortage of bars near Wrigley, that's for sure. It's the world's largest beer garden. Wink

As to the spots mentioned in the article, Goose Island's Clark Street location is by far the closest...just a few doors down the street from Wrigley, it's a good spot for pregame & postgame, though it will be crowded.

Hopleaf, Half Acre, Metropolitan and Tiny Lounge should be a short cab ride away, 10-15 minutes at the most.

You can't get group tickets, however the bleachers are general admission. They do fill up and it's tough to save seats but if you all get there at the same time, or close to the same time you can sit together. I think face is $50 and they usually go for $75 outside the park.

The cubs are becoming a hot ticket again, it might be tough to get them outside depending on how they're doing.

Allred has it right- Goose Island has a location on Clark street about a half-block from Wrigley, decent place.

Hopleaf is another recent favorite of mine, but it's a good 15 minutes away, straight up Clark street. Great place, as these types of pubs go.

Not looking good for next year either.

Are you guys planning on sitting together? If so, what section? Bleachers?

My brother and I will probably end up at the game as well...can't imagine going to Chicago and not checking out Wrigley...

danny-

Let me know if you want to grab some seats together. I will be arriving after first pitch, but I would love to watch the game and drink a few beers.

Danny, my wife and I are planning to just scalp outside the stadium. I was thinking anyone staying at the Marriott could split cabs or all walk over together and see if we can find any tickets close together. Probably wont be able to all sit together if we have a big group though.

Also, a friend of mine has a very close friend who owns a bar called Cans. He said it was near Wrigley and he'd take care of us if wanted to swing in there. I have no clue how close it is though.

Cans is a great bar. However it's nowhere near Wrigley, it's in Bucktown on Damen Ave. A good 5 miles from Wrigley which on a busy Friday afternoon can easily be a 30 minute cab ride. If your friend is telling you it's near Wrigley he's not a good friend.

I'll discuss with my brother, Paul, and keep you posted on our plan.

Either way, I will assume we will go to the game, and meet up with you guys at some sort of delicious beverage establishment...

It's basically across the street. It may take you all of 1 or 2 minutes to walk it.

I' be with a gorup of 8 friends coming in from Washington DC. Not sure where we sitting exactly, as I didn't score the tickets.

We'll try and swing by Goose Island before the game. Depends how timely their flights arrive.

Cheers,

Otis

Just bought our tickets. Sec 109 Row 3.

See everybody at Goose Island. I am thinking I will skip breakfast and had to the bar at about 10:30. Chicken wings and beer should cure the hangover I am sure to have from Paul's thursday night tasting and dinner. Wink
