I'll have to speak to mav, but they should have enough stemware for us. I don't, however, believe they have pinot stems, so I'm contemplating bringing some with me.

I'll report back later about this and the decanter situation - although personally, I'm not fond of decanting Pinot.

Thanks, in that case I'll go no decanter as well and stick with the stems provided - I don't own pinot stems.

Futronic,

I just had dinner (and 3 bottles of wine) with your "older brother" Allred, in Chicago. He said to give you his, and Amy's, best regards. Smile

Fantastic stuff! I'm sorry to be missing the "family reunion," but hopefully I'll see them next time I'm in Chicago.

Another update: Please note the change in time, as the reservation was made for 7pm. My mistake for the earlier post.

Bordeaux stems will be provided by the restaurant, and they should be able to do a couple per. They have decanters, but I don't think there's a need to decant all of these wines.

If you would like to bring Pinot stems, please go ahead and do so. I'll be bringing a box to supply tanglenet and myself.

Six Steps Restaurant & Lounge
55 Colborne Street
Website

Reservations are for 7:00pm

Theme: Pinot

Roll call:

Tanglenet
Futronic
DoktaP
tannic bastard
Slan
maverickdrinker (2) - I think 2
basecadet
MeritageMan
Baird (2)

I'm going to cut it off there to ensure decent pours.

Wines: Please chime in with the wine you'll be brining as soon as you sort it out.

2002 Robert Arnoux Vosne-Romanée (tannic bastard)
2003 Belle Gros Taylor Lane (MeritageMan)
2004 Le Clos Jordanne Pinot Noir Le Grand Clos (MeritageMan)
2002 Jacques Prieur Beaune 1er Cru Champs-Pimont (maverickdrinker)
2004 Littorai Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard x2 (tanglenet)
2003 Coste-Caumartin Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremmiers (futronic)
2002 Jacques Prieur Beaune Graves 1er Cru (Baird)
2003 Domaine du Clos Solomon Givry 1er Cru (Baird)
1996 Domaine Coste-Caumartin Pommard (DoktaP)
1995 Domaine A.F. Gros Vosne Romanee (DoktaP)

I am going to have to bail on this offline since my wife (and designated driver) will be out of town and I have no way of being there on time from the 'burbs with public transit.

Sorry, and I would have enjoyed meeting tanglenet and drinking Baird's Jacques Prieur and the other excellent PN's. Maybe next time!

Have a great time and don't forget to post TN's.

Dok, what are your co-ordinates? I work at Dixie and Queensway and have a car. Do you need a ride into Toronto?

I'm back in thanks to kind offers from TB and Baird. I was in and out so quickly, I was feeling like a cheap hooker. (Now I know how futronic feels Wink Razz Big Grin)

I'll be bringing:
1 x 1996 Domaine Coste-Caumartin Pommard (mini vertical with futronic)
1 x 1995 Domaine A.F. Gros Vosne Romanee

Looking forward to meeting new faces and our out-of-town guest

Slan.... Slan.... Slan..... jeez, the name rings a bell. Razz Big Grin

It will be good to see all of you (new and old) and the wines look to be very promising as long as Futronic doesn't start us with a blind Amarone! Wink

Unfortunately we have had a sudden passing in the family. I would love to see everyone tonight but circumstances are forcing me to bow out. Have fun everyone. Sorry, and I hope to see you all next time.

MM, condolences as well, hopefully you can make it out to the next gig.

Tanglenet, thanks for joining us. It was a pleasure meeting you.

While I still have my wits about me, comments about the wines tonight (since i didn't take notes)...

Top wines for me were (it appears I prefer Burgundy to Cali Pinot)
2003 Coste-Caumartin Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremmiers
2002 Jacques Prieur Beaune 1er Cru Champs-Pimont
2002 Jacques Prieur Beaune Graves 1er Cru
and I'm not sure who brought it but the 2003 Mercurey was killer. Someone please post details... thx.

A swell night for a pinot newbie. Thanks all! Smile

Well, I'm back home, and I have to admit I was moving a little slow today Smile

I want to thank Futronic and everyone for their warm companionship and great wine. I had a wonderful time. Especially in the "Get Smart" cellar with fingerprint access: very cool.

If anyone is coming to the Bay Area, give me a heads up!

Best.
