Bump.....

We're less than a month away, is anyone else in? I'll wait another week or two but if we're 12 or less I may invite Lucie and/or Sara from our previous offlines.

Are we agreed to go themeless? If so, are we tasting blind? I'm good either way. I've got a couple of bottles in mind that I challenge anyone (yes Steve, even you!) to identify. And no, neither is from Oz nor Israel!

Snow or not, my schedule doesn't allow me to make it this time. I'll sure you'll have a good time regardless.

Subject: Themeless AND blind

I'd like to see this settled as well.
I've made my opinion on this so won't repeat.
However it will likely influence what I bring. Razz

That said; what I have in mind will likely make no difference anyway. Wink

I suggest no theme, and if someone wants to bring something blind for fun, that would be great. If they are all blind, it will affect the drinking order and the food choices.
Just my 0.02.

KSCO2, that '97 mag of Masseto would be nice Razz Wink

OK, since Dok is the guest of honour, not to say the most senior member in attendance (so far.....), I say we go with his suggestion above: themeless but not blind unless someone has something interesting that would be fun to taste blind. Like me.

So I'll start the "who is bringing what" portion of our program with something that I hope will get things started off with a bang:

DoktaP - 2
bman - 2 - 1994 Quilceda Creek cab (if I can collect it from who's holding it for me in time) and a full-bodied (what else? Big Grin) blind white
KSC02 - 1
vinaigre - 2
impulse - 1 or 2
carriedca - 2
Mimik - 1

-------------------
Go Bruins!!
Go Tigers!!
Go Pistons!!
Go Lions!!

Thanks, Dok. FINALLY, a voice of reason! Smile

Regarding the '97 mag: If I had one, I'd bring it. Wink

Sorry, bman. No stick poking meant for you. Wink

It was Mimik, I believe, who was 'strongly suggesting' the potluck/blind double.
It just seemed very high risk to me, for otherwise good wines, to show poorly unnecessarily.

Nice setting of the bar, Dok! Cool

Now, everyone will have to bring a mag as well, or this'll be tough to keep 'blind'. Big Grin

Are we declaring?

I thought I'd bring a 1977 Taylor-Fladgate Port (non mag) to open.

The only reason for the magnum is that I'm very honoured people would travel to Ottawa to see AMY (and to a much lesser extent, the ol' timer).
I had no intention of suggesting people bring anything other than a 750mL.
Undoubtedly, both the people, wines, and service will be memorable (or in Mimikos case, "mammar-able). Razz Wink

I was finally able to find a babysitter, so Ms Impulse will join us in Ottawa. Wines remain TBD though...

bman - 2 - 1994 Quilceda Creek cab (if I can collect it from who's holding it for me in time)
-blind white
KSC02 - 1 - 1977 Taylor vintage port
vinaigre - 2
impulse - 2
carriedca - 2
Mimik - 1

Bocado sent me an email yesterday asking for a tentative head count. We're at 12 now, with wine + art and Steve8 as tentatives. If you guys are in a position to commit one way or the other now, please do; if not, we can certainly wait a while longer though I will be on the road next week driving my daughter around to university open houses and so may not be online much.

BTW, wine + art, you just missed a Bernini exhibition here at our National Gallery, if you're into Renaissance Italian portrait sculpture. We went last weekend for the last day.

bman, I have long been a fan of Bernini, and truly one of the finest artist of Baroque sculptor. His father was also excellent.

I'm going to have to pass on this off-line. Frown I was advised last night that my Dad is weeks away from leaving the hospital.

As the only son, I just need to stay a little closer to Dallas for awhile.

Enjoy the wine dinner, and please give DoktaP a warm bear-hug for me, my twin brother, and a very firm slap on the back to KSC02. Cool

I'm wanting to get KSC02 accustom to our standard Texas greeting as he needs to seek employment here in God's country soon. Wink

Steve, it will never be too late for you and J at any offline I'm organizing. Cool

Updated list of participants below. How about some more wines listed, guys! Or are the bottles below too intimidating?! Razz Big Grin

KSC02 - 1 - 1977 Taylor vintage port

Bman,
Out of the blue, would there be room for 2 more?
My sister in law and her husband might be in Ottawa to visit friends and would like to join us.
They are semi regulars of the Montreal group.

My wife and sister and law are not big drinkers.
I will bring a good german riesling for them to enjoy and they will taste if they want from our glasses.

And no worries if there's no room. It's a last minute decision.
