Bistro LQ is not too far from me.

There's a slight chance I'll be engaged in a trial that would make 10/29 difficult. For now I'll say I'm 70% likely to make it. Unfortunately I won't know for sure until 10/27.

I was wondering if this would slide by...

But, it looks like we now have other plans tomorrow and Friday, so getting out Thursday also is going to hurt too much to make it worthwhile I'm afraid.

Shoot - this is my bad. Been working hard and out of it.

I'm still up for Thursday if others are. If not, we can delay a week or two in November. But I'm raring to go! And I'm still saying we should do Bistro LQ on 3rd between La Brea & Fairfax. It's awesome and corkage is low.

What do you guys say?

This Thursday is not good for me... I'd opt for bumping it another week or two. Frown

I have a Krug tasting that day so it will be difficult for me to attend, if we bump it a week that will be good for me as well

Then let's do it for next week or the week after. And I think we should have a theme. Any ideas?

But I will let you know in advance for sure.

Thanks.

My preference would be no theme at all, but I'll throw out Northern Rhones just to play along.

I travel out your way all the time and would love to get together for an offline at some point.

As of today I'm scheduled to be in Southern Cal the week after Thanksgiving if someone wants to put together something that week I'd be in.

Let's set for November 5th or November 12th. You guys weigh in but let's make the deadline to decide this Friday by noon.

I'll be more on top of this. Things have been very busy at work so I got distracted for a moment. Sorry about that guys.

But we need to buildup LA's offline scene so it's not a joke. We need to prove to Brashley that we can make this happen!

Anyway, I'm free either Thursday. And I agree. Let Chaos rule!

And oh - we're doing Bistro LQ. It's awesome & it's central. I've held numerous wine events there - it really is perfect.

I assume this will be during dinner time (7/7.30 pm)?

Also, this will be the first offline event for me. What is the price range for the wine that I will bring?

Thanks guys.

Welcome to the Board! Not to offend, but I need to ask--do your teeth and tongue get purple when you drink a lot, do you start slurring and sometimes fall and hit your head but remain a gentleman and great/fun person the whole time?

dont hold me to it, but that Thursday/Friday (5th & 6th) are the two days over the next 6 weeks that are actually possible.

i'll watch the thread and for now, do count me as in for this, but i wont be completely sure until at least Tuesday night/Wednesday morning of that week, hopefully sooner.

and as you can imagine, im all for the CHAOS!

Zin - you want to start a headcount/list?

I've marked my calendar for chaos on the 5th!

Wineplease, since you're a newbie, you need to bring the most expensive wine.

I think that's the rule, right? Wink

Well, please tell me which wine that you guys will bring.

I will do my best to match them. Smile
(I only have bordeaux, CA cabs and pinot)

Wineplease:

Don't let these guys kid you around. I find the average price and age of a wine at one of these offlines is around $500 (current auction price), minimum 25 years of cellaring.

Just kidding. Bring what you feel you want to share and have a good time with! I don't think there is a price limit in either direction but bring something you think you would consider appropriate. Price is not necessarily an indicator of quality. As I told a friend today, if everyone is bringing $100 bottles and you bring $60, no one is going to look at you weird. They're all (hopefully at that price) quality wines. However, if everyone is bringing $60 and you bring $20, well, that's probably less cool since there's a good chance you bought your wine at Ralphs.

The way I tell my friends, bring something you are really excited to share with a bunch of people who share the same passion as you.

Now onto the event:

1) I'll book Bistro LQ for 11/5. I just need a headcount.

2) Time: Can we say 7:45? That should give those of us who are across town and work to 7:30 time to get to W. Hollywood.

3) And the attendees thus far:

Zinerator
Zinerator's wife (possibly)
Wineplease
Ron D. Banquer
Jfont
Vinyrd Skynyrd
kumazam

I'm also going to invite some friends who are not on the boards.

Let me know as soon as you can so i can give the restaurant a heads up.

4) I'm in Palm Springs this weekend for the 3 day Phish concert so may not be checking emails that often. So don't get worried that I'm flaking if I don't respond.

5) Glad we're all pulling together to make this happen. About damn time Smile
