I posted this on the September 24th thread but am moving it here.

Let's put one together. Let's make it at Bistro LQ. Phenomenal restaurant on Melrose just west of Fairfax. $10 corkage.

What's the theme and let's pick a date. Some ideas are:

Washington State
Napa Cab vs. WA cab
South Africa
Willamette Pinot vs. SRH Pinot
Burgundy
CDP
2000 Bordeaux vs 2005 Bordeaux
2000 Left Bank BOrdeaux - how are they doing?
1999 Barolo - let's check in and see what's happening
'04 Brunello or '07 CdP - Are they living up to the hype/

I'm interested. Once a date is picked I'll be able to let you know for sure.

My preferred theme choice would be CdP.

I should also say that I would prefer the SRH vs Willamette pinot, or napa cab vs wa cab or the 00 vs 05 bordeaux...

What about Thursday, October 29?

I'm going to ixnay the SRH vs. Willamette - I shouldn't have brought up that idea. Recently did it with another group. It's interesting but there are far more interesting ideas presented.

I love any of the other ideas and would be happy with any of them. Huge CdP fan but also am interested to do a side by side comparison of '00 & '05 bordeaux (left bank only perhaps?) Also, I'm a strong believer WA State cabs are better than Napa on the whole - so interested to do a knock down tournament between the two...

Yeah, and if it's on a weekend, we can give Gregg grief if the service sucks!

you want to keep it real and stay true to the source? CRS... Chaos Reigns Supreme Cool

i never went, but some of the old school, og LA board members here from years back went by the moniker... no theme - just good wines, good people, and good food

id love to come, but im pursuing an MBA while working full time... i'll be done by December, so im not far away, but i'll lurk and watch to see if the dates work... i have a presentation and paper due Saturday morning the 31st, so i'll see whats up with what you all choose

way to get something started Zinerator

That weekend doesn't work for me - going to Palm Springs for the Phish concert.

If we can find another weekend in November that would be great but it's hard with Thanksgiving, etc. Personally speaking, the weekdays are better for me.

And you southerners are going against traffic! You can make it up here in no time at all - especially if we hold it someplace off the 405!

I'm down with CRS. It's what the group wants. I just want to have good company, good food and good wine!

And to get LA off its butt and get an offline going Smile

no, not at all, t'man. LA is notorious for being unable to put-together an Offline on this board ... that's all. it's funny to watch it (not) develop.

its only recently been this way, maybe the last 2-3 years... there used to be a regular contingent that met all the time

id love to meet up thirsty but i just cant commit to anything right now with my schedule (work full time and school at night)... i have class tues/wed and saturdays, so only way i'll know if i can meet up is if i get all my stuff done by the day before, otherwise its studying mondays

Guys - I'm making other plans now. Sorry for the last minute notice - its unfortunately the way it works for me most of the time. Maybe next time.

I'd be interested in being part of an offline in November. My schedule for the rest of this month is pretty packed though.

I live in the Mid-Wilshire/Park La Brea area, close to many potential venues.

Vin

id love to get together but thats my last month of school (too many deliverables between papers, presentations, projects, finals, etc...)

later this month is more feasible

but i guess the good news is that after November, i'm done with the program!

Sorry I've been offline for the past few weeks.

Ok - I'm hoping we're still on for this. The date's been marked off on my calendar:

DATE: THURSDAY, 10/29/09
PLACE: BISTRO LQ
WHAT TO BRING: Whatever you feel like (unless someone is really into the theme idea)

We've gotta reignite LA's offlines. We'll make another date in November. But for right now, this is the October date.

Who's in? I'll reserve Bistro LQ. I've held two events there already and they've been phenomenal.
