Also what's the etiquette in bringing wines? never been to one of these before =P

E-mail sent and spo gave you your guidance on the wine. Just wanted to touch on the snack to share - something simple as finger food or to be served on a small plate. Cheese and crackers are always popular, or maybe some fruit, or ??? We always seem to have a tougher time picking the food to share vs the wine.

OK, time for the roll call. Who's in and how many? Here it is me + 1.

Cool, we have 2 new people, clayfu and JHM.

We need to abduct Red Guy and Wine Joe, or at the very very least you guys could call in sick

I'm actually not working for a change, but instead I'm already committed to an outing with the family in the late afternoon, and tickets to the Padres for their 7PM game. But since you guys are starting at the early time of 2PM, I may be able to wiggle free and hit the first hour or so. I just have to work on my wife now. She refuses to believe that I can attend a wine tasting and actually be the first one to leave when so many bottles are still open. I guess she does have a point. Nevertheless, if I can get a "hall pass" from the wife for an hour or two, I'd love to join the fun. Can I put myself down as a "definite maybe"? If I am able to come, it would be around 2PM, and I'd probably have to leave just when the going gets good.

I'll see what I can work out with the maitre d' for you, Wine Joe. It's a "definite maybe" that we'll be ready to pop 'em at 2pm.

Since no one complained about it, I think we're locked in at this point. Gonna be able to make it?

Good to hear, Whine-oh. See you both tomorrow.

We'll have enough wine glasses here, but thanks for the offer clayfu.

Ah, the mystery is solved! My wife talked with someone, but didn't remember any names. Thought it was a friend of Amy's. Smile

Sounds like we'll have a nice turnout today. See you all soon.

Thanks SD-Wineaux for hosting and for that great Barbaresco that reminded more of a muscat/tawny with the lighter body or a normal non-desert wine wine. Good to see Mrs. SD again.

Whine-oh and co., always good to see you.

Clayfu, good to meet you and your buddy, we we will meet again soon I hope.

Sean Tremblay, good to see you and your delightful parents once again.

Caleb, I miss you already. Farewell, for 6 months that is.

Wine Joe, good seeing you, you vanished like a commando wearing a guille suit though. Hope you did not get in trouble.

JHM, where were you?

Wines were good, not one stinker in the group.

Here you go, Kevin and wife thanks for hosting, appreciate it tons!

Great wines great people, here are the tn's

1995 Weingut Robert Weil Kiedricher Gräfenberg Riesling Auslese (Germany, Rheingau) 8/19/2007 LPskeleton 91
golden color, honeyed fruits with a touch of petrol. great body that expands on the finish. Loads of honey and mango. (2 views)

2001 Pierre Sparr Riesling Schoenenbourg (France, Alsace, Riquewihr, Alsace Grand Cru AOC) 8/19/2007 LPskeleton 93
LOVED this, Mango and pineapple nose. Upon entry wine EXPLODES into huge flavors of sweet sweet tropical fruits and then slowly drops off into a dry finish that still echoes the fruit on the mid palate. Whew! (3 views)

2004 Tobin James Estate Private Stash (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 8/19/2007 LPskeleton 91
Typical dark blueberry paso fruit with wonderful lavender accents, just a touch of spice. Pure core of fruit w great tannin-acid balance. Pure and dark. (4 views)

1997 Terrabianca Campaccio Selezione Riserva Toscana IGT (Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT) 8/19/2007 LPskeleton 88
Screaming chocolate. Medium bodied, dark fruit flavors..again more chocolate..finishes on a slightly more sour note, which i found interesting. (9 views)

2000 Domaine du Gros' Noré Bandol (France, Provence, Bandol) 8/19/2007 LPskeleton 89
scents of escargot, cherry and leather that lead into a nice core of blackberry fruit and high acid. (13 views)
