I'm still in guys, and like GlennK I have the vast majority of my cellar in the USA, but have a few to pick from here in the UK.

Why dont we start a list of bottles here so that we don't get many similar entries, thats if we are trying to mix it up?

Sounds like a grand event.

Cheers

See, Ampuis? We could have helped you out with that, if you'd just left us a key to your cellar. Wink

What, you don't have the key? I specifically asked mattach to hand it over to you in person.

Drink what you like, even the 59 Margx. Big Grin

Some of the following:

1977 Conti Costanti Riserva or
1985 Col d'Orcia Poggio al Vento

1999 Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve Personnelle or
2004 Albert Mann Pinot Gris Grand Cru Furstentum

and one mystery bottle.

Wow, sounds awesome guys! I hate to be the voice of reason but maybe we should have a top limit of 2 bottles per person! Eek

Glenn, I look forward to trying the Beau. I haven't had that one and from what I have read it should be in a good place right now.

BirD, that Warre port sounds fantastic. I will leave it up to you whether you want to bring the other two. That Falesco sounds interesting.

Longboarder, wow!! Either of those BdMs I'm sure will be fantastic to try.

I still think I will bring a champers, but due to the quality of the wines being brought I think I will up the ante! Smile

1995 Taittinger Comte de Champagne

and

1998 Cote Rotie Jamet

Ampuis glad you're still on board for this one. I hope that gives you a good idea of what people are bringing. Maybe I can recap:

GlennK: 95 Beaucastel/white or sparkler tbd
BirD: 97 Montiano(Falesco)/77 Warres/96 Meursault Les Tessons(Pierre Morey)??
Longboarder: 1977 Conti Costanti Riserva or 1985 Col d'Orcia Poggio al Vento/1999 Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve Personnelle or 2004 Albert Mann Pinot Gris Grand Cru Furstentum/ a mystery bottle!! Eek
BobbyC: 1995 Taittinger Comte de Champagne/1998 Jamet Cote Rotie

Thats a lot of wine!!

OK - I sort of promised BirDungy a bottle of Palmer some time ago, so I will probably pop the 88. I might drag along a bottle of Port as well to accompany his Warre and provide a comparison.

I should be able to confirm tomorrrow.

Hey KB

You know, I had completely forgotten about the Palmer promise but now that you mention it, wasn't it a '61 you mentioned? Razz

Have been thinking and will offer the choice of other wines:

'00 La Chapelle for those that are curious
or
'00 Cote Rotie La Landonne Rene Rostaing

Guys - let me know which you prefer me to bring otherwise I will just choose.

BirD

BirD,

Intriguing wines. My input may not help your decision but maybe others can chime in. They are both young but would love to try them both. The Cote-Rotie would make a good comparison with the Jamet I am intending to bring. I also have a bit of La Chapelle at home. I could bring the 95 for comparison if you want to bring that. I know not much help. Smile

Maybe others can chime in.

OK - I'm in, sorted out all commitments and can get the last train home.

It is an 88 Palmer not a 61 and there is nothing wrong with Tesco LBV (*). I might drag along a SQVP but I've got a few VPs that might fit the bill as well. I will have a search around.

(*) that can't be fixed by a convenient drain

Just found out today that I'm flying in next Friday the 6th for a business meeting in Watford.

Is there any room for one more? Totally understand if I'm too late to the game.

Cheers,

Otis

PS> BirD: I've got a wicked googly I'm ready to spin past you on your backyard cricket grounds.

No way. There will more Yanks at the London OL than locals. Seriously, I hope Bobby can find room for you at the table. See you on the 6th.

We can fit Otis in I think, even if we have to change venues - do you guys agree? I would even be happy to host it at my place if we can't find anywhere else - a bit of a hassle for everyone as not in central London but also not that far from Central London either.

As for locals, I think there are 1.5 English people attending - KB and me (I'm the 0.5 - mother is a local).

OTIS! OTIS! OTIS! OTIS!

Otis, we will make it happen one way or another. I will call St. John and see if they can expand it to 8. I have a friend who may be able to join. Longboarder you may remember him, Jody.

If thats not possible, I will get back, and we can decide what to do then.

Thanks so much for working me in, guys. Cool It will be great to meet some new faces and re-connect with some familiar ones.

I will bring a '97 Ornellaia and '02 Copain Eaglepoint Ranch Syrah.

BirD has my email address for any other pertinent details, but I'll keep checking this thread.

This will definitely compensate for a hastily arranged trip to dreary Watford. Looking forward to fun night!

Cheers,

Otis

Still thinking on the bottles...I only have 48 to choose from in my temporary stach.

Im thinking of a 1999 Gran Reserva Rioja and a 1er cru Burgundy from 2001, need some Pinot right?

Sorry about that, Ampuis.

FWIW, I'm from Buffalo, NY. Which gets the same type of treatment from outsiders as Watford. (Especially from BirD's brother, Grossie Razz). But I shoulda known better...I'm all for civic pride.

Cheers,

Otis

OK Folks,

The reservation has been changed to 8 people but there is one catch. They need us to move the reservation up by 15 minutes to 6:45pm. I hope that is okay with everyone, and considering the number bottles listed all ready, we may need the extra time! Razz

They have taken credit card details and there will be a charge per person if there are no shows. So, please do let me know if for some reason you can't make it.

The other thing I want to remind people is that corkage for the restaurant is set at £15/bottle like I had mentioned earlier. Also, they don't have the best stems. I will bring 4 to cover myself and Longboarder, as all ready mentioned. So, if others local to here could bring some extras that would look after Otis, as well.

Heres the website with contact details and remember it is the one on St. John Street in Smithfields.

http://www.stjohnrestaurant.co.uk/

That should cover it. I am really looking forward to it guys. Let me know if you have any problems with any of the arrangements. My email is bschandra1 at msn dot com.

BirD, by the way which one are you planning on bringing the La Chapelle or the La Landonne? I will make my decision based on yours.

Thanks Bobby. I know how difficult it can be to arrange these soirees. Unless my flight is delayed or cancelled on Friday I will be there. I have your number in my blackberry so I can let you know if I am delayed.
