How many bottles do you guys want to bring? Should we "limit" ourselves to 3 total?
As Grossie said, LB don't feel obliged to bring anything, you have you covered!

I took a look at the menu and it looks like decent burgundy would pair well. I appreciate your kind offer to provide the wine but I would feel better if I contribute something. How about a 2002 Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches?

I'm not gonna refuse some 02 Burgundy!

I think we should try to limit our total to 1 btl per person. I like variety, but don't want to end up totally hammered. Also, I know Mrs F16 won't drink the same volume as us.

Berno- you there?

LB, you're talking about the red or White CLos des Mouches?

French- did you see my post above? I'm thinking about an 01 Albert Mann Gewurz furstentum VV, or a Mann 01 Pinot Gris Hengst. I bet that either will drink well right now. If you guys have a preference one way or another let me know.

I can offer up various reds too, but that may not be necessary.

My $0.02. I have had many different vintages of the Mann Pinot Gris Grand Cru's but never the Gewurz. My vote would be for that.

Yep I did see your post that's why I said I should bring a red !
Like LB, the gewurzt sounds good.
What do you guys prefer between a '85 Kirwan or a '78 Beaucastel (I know you already had it Grossie but I think it needs to be drunk).

Burgundy, Alsace and Rhone. Sounds like a great night in the making. BTW, I would be fine with Burgundy, Alsace and Bordeaux as well. Smile

Love those old Rhones Smile . Young rhone-ies I'm less wild about, but I'll put up with one for a few hours over dinner because I like his wife. Wink

I'm not going to be able to make it to the city. Enjoy yourselves!

My Aussie dinner was moved to tonite. Talked to grossie and he squeezed me in at the last minute. Will bring a Rhone. See you guys tomorrow. Cool

Cheers,

Otis

Thanks to grossie, Otisabdul, french16, and OD for a nice evening at Kiki's Bistro last night. The food, wine, and company were very enjoyable and much appreciated.

The escargot and white burgundy was a great pairing. The '02 Clos des Mouches Rouge opened up nicely with the duck confit and the '78 Beaucastel and the '89 Vieux-Telegraphe were sublime. The '78 was the oldest Rhone I have had the pleasure to drink. The last sip of the '01 Mann Furstentum Gewurz. was the best.

I hope to do it again in the near future.

Sounds like Kiki's is fine with byob in whatever quantity. Nice. What's the corkage there?

Every time we've been there, Kiki's had remarkably fair prices on Burgundy, but it's been a while.

Just one more sip.

They have a list online with pretty reasonable looking stuff. I'm always looking for good places that are comfortable with byob.
