Excellent news! I know nothing about Los Angeles, nothing. I'm staying in Laguna Beach area, but open. Someone pick a place AND a theme. I'm easy!

Anisette ($20) and Josie ($25) in Santa Monica look pretty intriguing (thanks to Brashley).

Santa Monica on a Thursday is TDF for me. (Too Damn Far).

GA - if someplace closer works, make a suggestion! I'm coming from SLO, so it's far everywhere. Any ideas?

I don't get up to the O.C. that much. If someone knows a spot I'm game. Trying to get from San Diego to Santa Monica on a Thursday night would take literally three hours....... If this happens a little closer to home, I'm game.

That is where I'm staying...
I've done couple small off-line at Blue Fin in Newport Beach. I think corkage was $20/btl, maybe less.

If you decide on Laguna Beach for this offline, then I was going to suggest Studio at Montage Resort, but their corkage is $15 for the first bottle and $30 for the second. Five Feet offers excellent wine-friendly Chinese food in an artsy setting. There are many other excellent choices in Laguna and I would be happy to try someplace new. W+A, as I notice the second half of your screen name, I wonder if you are visiting Laguna Beach for art-related reasons?

Java... have you called them by chance? I have found many places will cap the corkage (say $100) if you advise what we are doing. As far as I'm concerned, if you know of a good place that works well, book it. I heard from DannyK today and he is going to try to make it as well. As for my visit...work AND golf.

W+A, have you decided on Laguna Beach rather than Santa Monica/Los Angeles? This is your offline, so you call it. Next, how about some guidance on cuisine and atmosphere? French-American? Italian? Chinese? Formal, elegant? Casual, artsy? Ocean view, or not? Have you Googled either of the two restaurants in my last post, to see if they might interest you? Do you have a theme for the wine?

Let's pick a date in October. What works for everyone?
And I'm going to pick a fantastic restaurant I just held my last wine dinner in - Bistro LQ. Phenomenal food and they have a tasting menu as well as a "make your own" tasting menu where you can order 3+ half dishes. A seriously amazing new restaurant. And not that pricey. About $60-$70/person, corkage is $10.
What date works for everyone in October?
I'm interested...Never done one of these before.
