I'm going to sit on this a bit before I make the reservation with Todd, but I'm sure we are at his utmost welcome. As most of us know, they do provide nice stems for us, so just have to arrange some decanters.

FYI -- I was at Splat's last night and they're now charging a $10 per bottle corkage fee on weekends only.

I learned this evening, that my sister is throwing a bash for her son's first birthday on the 22nd. As a result, I will not be able to make the 7:00pm start, but refuse to miss the evening altogether, and as such, will be late - around 9ish. I will arrange to have a wine there, previous to my arrival.

aav,
I called Splat to book a dinner for tomorrow and while I was at it, I booked for April 22nd for 12 people starting at 7:00pm. I hope that's alright with you.
I'll speak to Todd about corkage when I see him tomorrow.

AAV - please put me down as tentative assuming space is available. It's been way to long since my last offline! I'll be able to confirm closer to the date. Thanks.

Sorry to hear, mav.

Anyone decide on their wine yet? I'm pretty sure I'm going to bring a 1998 Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It's the oldest Rhone wine I have.

I am in the same boat as you. I have very few Rhones older than 1998. I have some older Beaucastel, but that stuff needs AT LEAST 15 years before it is ready.

I will bring one of the following.. please advise if any of you have a preference....

1998 Caves de Papes "Les Closiers" CdP
1999 Clos de L'Oratoire CdP

The last time I was at Splat, it was a Saturday, and he charged me $10 corkage.
I'll try to talk to him about our upcoming event.

I have absolutely no problem paying $10 corkage. After all Todd has done for us, I say we leave it be.

I will definitely be there, btw.

Not much old Rhone in my cellar, as a matter of fact not much old anything but there will be in a few years. I'll bring a 2000 Jaboulet Aine Vacqueyras and a 1998 Chapoutier Banyuls (not a Rhone wine, but a Rhone producer) for dessert.
