Indeed. Hey tentatives, let us know your availability ASAP! I still think the magic number is 24, so if we have any dropoffs let's level it off at two dozen and call it a day.

Chicagoans? Any thoughts on venue? With a crowd this big, we should book well in advance, methinks.....

Can I get on the waitlist? (wife and I) I'd like to put some faces to names.... and learn more about Italian wines.

As far as venue ideas there's a great Italian "tapas" style resturant right downtown called Quartino. Very reasonably priced and great meats, cheeses, pasta dishes, pizzas etc.

http://www.quartinochicago.com

BTW I'm not affiliated with this place, just a suggestion.

Sounds like we'll need to add an Aglianico flight to the lineup Smile!

I entertian groups for business 15-20 times a year so if you know what type of place you're looking for in the city I could probably give several suggestions

How did I get on the tentative list? Confused The wife says she has never been to Chicago and had fun last year, so wants to go. I told Chicago isn't all that exciting. Smile But the dinner was fun, so we would like to be in.

So is this 100% on for the April 26th weekend? I'll need to start dealing with logistics on my end.

I agree that city dwellers like Een and RedLine are probably best suited to pick a venue. Having exiled myslef to the suburbs since 1998, I am a bit out of touch with the Chicago restaurant scene.

However, Chicago is loaded with terrific Italian restaurants. There are only a few that I know of don't charge corkage. We once had an offline at one of them: Caro Mio

DoktaP/futronic: do you remember it? What do you think of that place as a venue for this? I think we had at least 25 people there on that night. They put us in a big U-shaped configuration that seemed to work pretty well.

Just a thought.

Cheers,

Otis

Yes, I remember Caro Mio. They accommodated us nicely, but I didn't think the food was fantastic. Perhaps there are some other options in the city. It was also quite the cab ride out there - coming back in, I had to tell the cabbie what Interstate to take, otherwise we would have ended going to Baltimore or something crazy like that!

PH, when I said "if the dates work", there was not yet a date set. No worries, I know there will be a spot for us. Big Grin

I'm making an executive decision. I'm putting Jc, mlv, Redline and VM and spouse down as confirmed. That puts the group at 28. If anyone drops from this original group we do not replace that seat until the headcount goes below the originally planned 24.

Seem reasonable? If not, I don't care anyway... Razz

Doesn't look like we'll need a waitlist for this event, as a quarter of the group is in Chicago and the rest are pretty hard core offliners. That being said, if you're interested in attending, let us know and we'll put you down. If the original group drops below 24, we'll go to the list.

Wow this is getting exciting. I'm thinking, similar to an Otisabdul CDP, this'll be at 14 pages soon.

We just won $300M in projects, so if you're put on the waitlist, don't get too discouraged. I may get yanked.

Lentini,

If you bail on this, you will be forever called a Cowboy fan. Just so you know. Or maybe even an Igles fan. Don't pull a spacewrangler, dude.
