Since I wasn't there, I must ask:
How was the 1999 Casanova de Neri Cerretalto? I was gifted one for Christmas and am assuming that it still needs 5-10. |

5 at least. It showed some signs of what it might be, but it's still a ways from ready.

Ditto that indy. I can only continue to ignore this tyrade and hope it all dies down. Any 'explanation' will only fuel this fire. Suffice to say, this is getting more mileage than even I expected. As for the weekend, I agree. One to go down in history and it'll be tough to top. But we will try. |

I would not hold for 10 years unless you have many, just not that style of wine in my opinion. Have many do you have? |

1. I was thinking about opening in 2013-14 |

I opened one 1 1/2 years ago, and this one, with a couple of hours splash decanting, has made a HUGE step forward. 3-5 years, IMO, and this'll be 'in the zone'. |

w+a,
Would you drink now, or hold for a while? PH |

KSC02, where have you and Steve registered if I may ask? A gift is in order I feel. |

Depends how many I had... If I had several, I would start pulling in 2-3 years, then each year after, but if I had only one, I do not like the risk reward in 2018+. |

No reason for registering, as you know. But certainly a gift is always welcome! |

There are many fine options today if problems persist. |

Seems about right. If I had one, I'd wait 5. It was a good bottle, if not spectacular. PH |

Have the wines from Friday and Saturday been posted yet?

Nope. I'm counting on wiml and fut for details. I was not taking detailed notes. I was just rolling with it. What a night.

We were talking about your preoccupation this weekend. I was talking about a list, not tasting notes. |

Formal notes may exist, but I honestly didn't see anyone writing much. Seemed to me most everyone (including the hard core tasters) was just too caught up with just enjoying it all. |

Yes. That Architectural Boat Tour was downright fascinating. PH |

I assume you rented the entire boat for M and yourself only. |

How about a listing from those that attended of the wines that most stood out in your mind still. Now a couple of days later, what wines are still haunting you with fond memories and long finishes?
It's not easy. The following is a list of wines I'm still thinking about and can mentally taste. Those not showing doesn't mean they were absolutely great. Just, a few keep lingering: 1990 Fuligni Brunello 1997 Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 1998 Gaja Sperss 2000 Bruno Rocca Barbaresco Rabaja 2000 Galatrona 1997 Siro Pacenti BdM 1997 Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Riserva 2001 Flaccianello della Pieve 1997 Livio Sassetti Brunello Pertimali 1997 L'Apparita Castello di Ama 1990 Ornellaia And to think that's an attempt to minimize it by cutting out some absolutely incredible wines, not to mention the Champagne beforehand. |

I was unaware that nothing stood out for you on Friday night. I'm putting the '88 Salon back in my cellar and removing your name from it. Thanks for the candid post. |

As this thread was/is focusing on the Italien evening, I assumed the 'Pre-game' activity was the subject of a seperate thread. Truth be told, if I had to pick one wine that stood out from both nights, it would indeed be the 1988 Salon Champagne. As you know, it brought a tear to my eye. THE finest Champagne I've ever had the priviledge of passing my lips. Stunning. |
