KSCO2,
If you're driving in, any chance you can take a couple of bottles I plan to bring. I hear that they're getting more and more brutal at the airport boarder about limiting wines.

My pleasure, Dok. Wink

I'll be driving through T the weekend prior, so that'll work.

I'm a big loser. I have to bow out of the 4th Annual Italian Offline. (For work) I have to go to Nebraska, Indiana, and Minnesota over the two weeks leading up to that weekend, so my wife would never let me attend an offline again if I went to Chicago for fun upon return. For some reason she thinks taking care of two young kids as being a job for BOTH of us and not just her. (Too bad I didn't have the air tickets already. And too bad she wasn't coming with me. I've got to strategize better next time.)

I was really looking forward to meeting and drinking with you all. Very bummed. I'm reserving a spot at the 5th annual right now. Especially if it's in Chicago.

That sucks, Lentini! As punishment, I think you should ship the Rabaja to Chicago. We'll give it its own chair and everything!

Anyway, sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. You're one of the few Italophiles I haven't met yet.

If you guys need a replacement for Lentini, let me know, my wife and I could probably attend. I can't believe I missed an 18 page offline thread in Chicago.

If the numbers are fine without Lentini, that's cool too.

Actually, I was remiss in not adding Kevin S. to the waitlist, so he would rotate into Lentini's slot.

I'll put thelostverse down on the waitlist for 2. Any table willing to absorb thelostverses may speak up at any time! Smile

Lentini - Sorry you can't make it. I was looking forward to meeting you. I really hope I can get with the MD, NVA group sometime in 2008.

I know some of you will consider this heresy, but I have never got into champagne. I will freely admit that that may be due to a lack of drinking the good stuff. I just have a hard time spending big on something that I don't love. That being said, I plan on bringing a white for a starter. I have narrowed it down to three, respond if anyone has a preference.
  • 2005 Paolo Bea Santa Chiara
  • 2004 Jermann Vintage Tunina
  • 2002 Radikon Ribolla Gialla
Personally I am leaning towards the Radikon, but am willing to change my mind.

I think any of those wines would be interesting, as they're rarely tasted by most people. Haven't even heard of the Radikon, but I trust your judgment. The Jermann should also be really good stuff.

I had not heard of it either but Rockss and Fruit who posts tasting notes as a professional on Cellartracker had this to say. Sounds very interesting.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Lentini, but I can sympathize. I'm looking at 24 days on the road during the month of April myself, which is why I'm passing on the Friday night warm-up. While we have no kids, my better half isn't too pleased.

To the others at my table, would you prefer I bring the 2000 Rocca Rabaja instead of the Pietradonice?

steve8,

How in the world can you expect us to make a choice between those two outstanding wines? Both are probably entering their drinking windows and will provide a big WOW! Flip a coin. We can't lose.

Just bring both Big Grin

Err... I do realize I'm not at your table, but a great suggestion none the less, no? Wink

Waitasec ...

You guys are assuming you get to taste these wines. Back off, get your own! Razz Big Grin

Steve,

Doesn't matter to me. Both wines will surely be great, so whichever one you want to bring is just fine.

What? You guys still trying to palm me off on some other table? You know no one else will take me.

I am beginning to wonder if the restaurant link in this thread is just a decoy. You will all be somewhere else when I show up at Campagnola. Red Face

Oh, we ARE all set for drinking at our table, Fut. Wink

However, be careful the 'limitations' you're placing. You could be depriving yourself of some covetous opportunities... Big Grin
