Talking with PH last night, just want to confirm, we're confirmed. I haven't booked yet, but we'll be staying at the Swissotel, probably arriving Thursday.

I am booked in the Sofitel for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Making a mini vacation out of this. If anyone has ideas on where to eat or what to see, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

There's always a trip to Binny's on Grand Big Grin

Also, I've found the Fine Art Museum in Chicago first rate, if that's your thing. A nice walk from the Sofitel (in the Summer at least). Wink

Well I should go home with as much wine as I bring with me, right?

Well if it isn't PlanoWino. Decided to come slumming over here on WS with the rest of us bums? Wink

I think PurpleHaze is the official keeper of the attendees. PH?

It isn't slumming. It is a big step up for me. I usually don't run with such a sophisticated crowd.

Great! Now I need to find some air and a hotel in hopes that I can go. Would you mind summarizing the details for me. I got lost going through the 15 pages of post trying to pull the info together.
1. Think the offline is 26 April
2. Not sure where
3. Seems downtown is the place to stay
4. Lost track of them other than Italian

Sorry of the questions. My bulb doesn't burn as bright as it once did and that isn't saying much about how bright it once was.

It would help if I could type "theme" correctly in item #4 in my message.

Correct @ 7PM
2. Not sure where
Campagnola, in Evanston.
3. Seems downtown is the place to stay
Yup!
4. Lost track of them other than Italian
Brunello, Barolo/Barbaresco & Super Tuscans.

Holler at Joe for more details. I'll get back to you after speaking with Een or the owner of Campagnola!

Ok, gang. Due to Een's crazy schedule I've offered to lend a hand in getting the final details of this shindig wrapped up. I'll be speaking with the owner of the restaurant in the next day or two to work on finalizing the menu.

The plan, so far, is for an assortment of antipasti to be served with sparkling wine while we mingle and munch. Then 3 courses of small plates to accompany each of 3 flights of wine. Brunello, Super Tuscans and Nebbiolo. Finally, some dessert. Prix fixe.

If anyone has dietary restrictions, or if this setup concerns anyone in any way, please speak up soon, or contact me directly at purplehaze1956 at yahoo dot com or my normal e-mail if you have it. Otherwise, I'm going to try to get a proposed menu out in this thread in the next week or so.

Thanks a bunch PH. The summary helps. I haven't seen Futronic in quite a while. Maybe he and WIML will let me sit at their table. Or, since they know me, maybe they won't.
