I don't know how well my ringer will turn out net to such auspicious wines! However I am going to bring a Sauterne as well if that helps you decide between that and the Auslese mattach. I'll be bringing a '05 Carmes de Rieussec. Sorry no aged, I don't purchase many dessert wines, and I know I'll never open a 750 of it alone!

thanks - OK, my 2nd wine will be a 1990 Schloss Schonborn Geisenheimer Schlossgarten Spatlese (going for a spat with some age on it instead)

TL will be bringing 2:
- 1999 Heitz Martha's Vineyard
- 2000 Duhart Milon

You folks have no idea how sorry I am to be missing this. Frown
I've heard through the grapevine that this wedding I'm getting dragged to (wife's family) has ordered several cases of Sutter Home for the reception, "...So you can drink all the wine you want." <shudder> Frown

I may have to conceal a 375ml from home in my coat pocket.

Tim C just let me know he will most likely be bringing a Dunn Howell Mountain (I did not get the year from him however). will try and get that from him before Sat night, but if I can't, will just have to be a surprise.

Look forward to seeing everyone Sat night.

Ah, non-posters. I didn't think of that. I look forward to meeting them as well.

GigondAss, who has not been to Seattle for a while, refers to people like that as "fresh meat." I'm not sure exactly what he means, but from his smile when he says it, it must mean something really, really good.

I'm getting quite stoked about what looks as though it will be the best wine-and-people night I've had in a while! Smile

Thanks, everyone, for the ongoing replies. Looks like we're all set for Saturday at 7. Man, quite an interesting lineup forming! Of course, all wines are subject to last-minute substitutions (that's part of the fun, isn't it?). And, we'll all have to lift a glass to recognize our poor friend in peril, mneeley490, and he tries to grin amidst a sea of plonk. We'll miss you!

BRR - '01 Guigal Hermitage
Mrs. BRR - 2004 Betz Family Winery Syrah La Cote Rousee
Ampuis - 2000 turley petite sirah Rattlesnake
& 1997 Ojai Bien Nacido Syrah (but who really knows? Razz)
mattach - 1997 Guigal D'Ampuis Cote-Rotie and 1990 Schloss Schonborn Geisenheimer Schlossgarten Spatlese
Tim C - 1990 Dunn Howell Mtn.
Lmtn - 1996 Chave Hermitage
flop - '04 Mont-Redon CDP
Mrs. flop - '07 Merry Edwards Sauv Blanc
Seaquam - 1985 VC Brut Rosé Rare and a 2001 Diel Dorsheimer Pittermannchen Auslese
Mrs. Seaquam
TL - 1999 Heitz Martha's Vineyard and 2000 Duhart Milon
pape du neuf - Rieslings (Spatlesen)
plusvini - 2006 Beaucastel and 2005 Numanthia Toro
Mrs. plusvini
mjraica - Rhone "Ringer" and '05 Carmes de Rieussec

BRR,

The Rieslings will probably be Spätlesen. I don't want to go too sweet.

There is a chance that my wife's plans to go away this weekend will not work out. Is there room for another at the table(s)?
I don't know if she would be flattered or not to be considered "fresh meat". I'm sure she would prefer "choice" or "prime".

Looking forward to meeting all of you tomorrow!

I'm thinking we'll be bringing the following:
'04 Mont-Redon CDP
'07 Merry Edwards Sauv Blanc - hopefully it'll live up to the hype.

(Thanks again, BRR!)

flop,

I'd love trying the Merry Edwards Sauv Blanc. I usually don't like CA SBs, but descriptions lead me to believe this one could be different.

We'd love to have her. I'm sure W.G. can accomodate a last-minute "prime" attendee!

Cheers!

Wow, now as I read this outstanding list of wines, I feel like Washington is being under-represented. Aside from my Betz and Ampuis' possible QCreek, that's it. Maybe another Washington wine is in order. Maybe...

Cheers!

I have a couple WA bordeaux blends that I could swap out the CDP for:
'06 Mark Ryan Dead Horse (might be a bit young)
'05 Seven Hills Vintage Red Ciel du Cheval
'02 Terra Blanca Onyx

Thoughts?

Nah, I'd stick with the CdP. I was being a little flippant, as we're here in Washington. Those are some darn good WA Reds you've listed, though!

Cheers!

Ladies and Gents,

The 05 Galitzine is a no go, given advice from Lmtn, so at this current time, until I dig deeper tomorrow I have found
2000 turley petite sirah Rattlesnake
& 1997 Ojai Bien Nacido Syrah

I'll dig again 2morrow.

My wife accepts the gracious offer to have her included, and will bring something from Washington, or someplace else.

You have less than 24 hours for a request.

On protocol and etiquette-
Some go by their posting name in real life.
Some go by their real name in posting life.
I like to go by my posting name in posting life, and my real name in real life.
You will know me by the wine I bring.
I'm looking forward to refreshing acquaintance with those I met briefly, meeting strange meat, and tipping a glass with all.

To All,

what a absolutely bloody good time.

Tremendous group, I'll remember this on my long trip back to Foggy Old London.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone.

A thousand thank yous to the organizers and the restaurant. Mrs PV and I had a absolutely excellent evening. I'm only sorry that my battery died so soon. New camera. Should have guessed that the flash would be a big drain...

Cheers and look forward to meeting with you all again.

Thanks to everyone for attending. It was great meeting everyone and the wines and food were awesome! Big shout out to seaquam and mrs. seaquam as well as plusvini and mrs. plusvini for making the 3 hour drive down to our fair city, not to mention braving the chaos that is the Nordstrom Rack! Razz

It is always fun to finally place faces with names and see if they look like you think they will.

The only down side was getting home after midnight, and then dealing with a 5am wakeup, as both boys decided it was waaaaay more fun to harass dad in the morning than actually let him sleep.

You are a poet and a gentleman, pape. Smile

It was a real pleasure meeting so many new faces and reacquainting ourselves with some familiar ones. Wonderful people, excellent wine, terrific evening! Kudos to Ole and his staff as well.

Thanks for having us! Hope to be back fairly soon.

Allow me to echo what as already been said. Mrs. flop and I both had a blast on Saturday. Great food, excellent wine and outstanding conversation. It truly was a pleasure meeting each and everyone of you and we are looking forward to it again!

BRR - thanks again for putting it together.
Amp - have a safe flight back!
