Alrighty - move me and Missus from Tentative to yes. Time to lose myself in my first off-line!

As for France - if that's what the group wants, I'm down. My personal collection of French wines is pretty lacking, but I'll be more than happy to go and get a Sancerre or something from the Loire if needed.

Otherwise, I have:
2004 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Abeille-Fabre

or

2006 Domaine des Sénéchaux Châteauneuf-du-Pape

-Tom

Hey BRR, I have limited time to watch this thread due to umpteen reasons..could you or someone marshall this.
The room is set for 7pm at the WG on June 6th.
We could possibly go bigger..but i've now got to leave it in capable hands.

Wow, can't wait to meet old friends and new faces..

Welcome to the fold Tom, at this stage you can bring whatever you feel like, unless a truly hard line thread kicks in.

As I've mentioned mines a 2005 QC Galitzine or a 98 Cote Rotie Belle Helene or similar ilk.

Cheers

Any changes to the list below? I'm helping Ampuis firm this list up, so if everyone would reply again with their attendance, that would be great. Unfortunately, based on room size and availability, it looks like we're going to have to stick with 16-17 firm. This is the list we had a few days back. BRR and Mrs. BRR are both a "yes."

Thanks BRR for tracking this.

and looks like its Syrah/Rhone(ish)kinda theme especially given the spicy nature of the delights we shall consume.

Mr & Mrs Plusvini are coming for sure, as they have reserved the back seat of my car. They are bringing a Beaucastel CdP and a Numanthia Toro.

I'm wondering whether we ought to be signing up for wines so we can get a little bit of variety? I'm happy to bring a couple bottles of good Champagne as an aperitif, and a nice Auslese for later on in the meal, if that suits people's tastes. If it doesn't, I'm flexible and easily persuaded to bring something else.

I'm thinking of bringing some Rieslings, to match many of the Pan-Asian selections.

BRR - FYI - the mrs. cannot make it that night. It will just be me.

BTW - Tim C is attending.

I'm still a one, tentative two...

If we are doing a Syrah/Rhone, I might try bringing in a ringer to see how it is accepted. I can probably guarantee no one has had this particular winery before.

Thanks all for the replies. I'll post wines above a bit later today as we have confirmations of what everyone's thinking of bringing. It's shaping up to be a "mixed bag" tasting of sorts, which can be great fun.

Cheers!

Any details available yet regarding time? And for us virgins, what are the expectations? Corkage? Unwritten rules?

I believe the time is 7pm this Sat night. Amp and BRR can chime in on corkage but I seem to recall it was built into the final tally last time as a flat fee, and a very fair one at that. I think cost per person is something like $47 (food) + corkage. As far as theme, I think it is wide open at this point, although sounds like we could be heavy into Northern Rhones and Rieslings, which is is always nice. Unwritten rules...hmmm, the only one I am aware of is that you are not allowed to pour 2 different bottles of the wine into the same decanter - Amp and BRR can give you more info on this Sat night. Eek Big Grin

Are we planning on just tasting sizes for each pour here, or do we need to bring multiple bottles? Seems to me we all are going to have plenty to drink as it stands right now. Big Grin

Also, cancel my plus one, I'll be bringing just my shinin' self....

Yep, it's at 7:00 p.m. The cost will be $47.50 per person for food, plus tip. I'm not too sure about corkage - I'll need to check with Ampuis on that.

I think it's shaping up to be more of a tasting event. It would be great if everyone could bring multiples, but I doubt that would be possible (and, yes, it appears there will be plenty of wine for all! Cool ). I've got to get back to WG with regard to stems, but they appear to be very willing to accomodate just about any request. What should we have available for stemware?

Cheers!

Leave it to me to come up with another question. With the flat cost per person, does this mean that we're doing the food buffet style/family style? Mrs. flop is a vegetarian, so I need to make sure that if we're not ordering off the menu that there is something for her to eat.

I will bring a couple of 1985 VC Brut Rosé Rare and a 2001 Diel Dorsheimer Pittermannchen Auslese. The Plusvinis are bringing 2006 Beaucastel and 2005 Numanthia Toro.

I've been debating (with myself, which is the only way I can be absolutely certain that I have a chance to win Smile) about whether or not to post this, but I think I should: there are a few people who haven't posted to this thread in a while. I hope that isn't an indication that they've changed their minds and now aren't coming. Ampuis and BRR have had to spend some time putting this together, and I will guess that there is probably a certain sum that's been guaranteed to Wild Ginger. It would be damn rude for anyone to simply not show up unless some sort of emergency occurs for them on Saturday. Anyone who has changed their mind or for any reason cannot make it should post so to this thread or contact one of the organizers.

Other than that, I very much look forward to putting some faces to monikers and seeing some familiar faces again. And I may need the assistance of one or two of you to drag my wife out of the shoe floor at The Rack and getting her to the dinner on time. Smile

seaquam, i think and would hope that most everyone is confirmed by now. a few of the names are friends of both amp (LMTN) and myself (Tim C / TL) and they do not post here but we have confirmed they are good to go. as far as myself, I will be bringing the '97 Guigal D'Ampuis Cote-Rotie as well as either a Sauterne or Auslese to be determined - still trying to decide on that. Look forward to seeing everyone Sat night.
