Agree 100%. That's why, as we get closer, it might be fun to have a few flights of a variety of wines. Now, when it comes to what those flights should be, I'm completely clueless!
Cheers!

Concentration? Are we supposed to concentrate?? Is there a test at the end of the night?
I fear I may be way out of my league with you folks. I don't think I can concentrate much after I've learned the names of two or three people I haven't met before. I do appreciate people with a good recall who can remind me of others' names when necessary.
I may need a bunch of blockbuster wines just to eradicate the memory of my frailties from my consciousness. It's mostly a Canadian thing, I guess.

... it made the silence in the room feel almost holy. It was a silence filled with a curious kind of yearning. A silence made of memory, of wonder...
Well c'mon, folks, is there a bit more room for a couple more Canucks in Seattle? I'm sure they'll contribute to the recovery of the US economy.
Plusvini hasn't been active here in a while, but is a wine lover from long ago. His wife is lovely and charming, and also a wine lover. So absolutely, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I vouch for these folks and beg that you allow them entry.

Whoops. Sorry about that, plusvini. Didn't see your post. You're added, provided ol' Ampuis can pull his Wild Ginger strings and get a space big enough! Happy to have you.

There is a large room upstairs that will seat about 30-40, maybe more, IIRC. The only minor quibble I had when we were last there is that there were 2 separate tables, but not very much room to move about freely.
Not sure if that's where we'll be, but they do have a number of spaces upstairs where we can be kept away from the riffraff and able to focus silently on tasting the wines and diligently writing our notes, as I'm sure all of us will be doing.

definitely. i will also personally tackle the unenviable task of insuring that absolutely no one has any fun, whatsoever.

Ok, after too long I know, here is the current news. The WG has a room seating 16 reserved for this event. Currently it seems that there are 14 confimed,
Reading the yeahs and the maybes I read...(and I may read incorrectly)

I will inquire about a larger sizing of room, but fear losing any sort of order. Theme is still under discussion, I would always prefer French, but lets have a vote amongst the confirmed folk, eh? (threw that in for our CA crew ) And I guess reconfirmation would be good folks as with the 16 room there are 2 places for the maybes/tentatives.

I'm always down to go French, but not because I have much to offer from France. I don't, unfortunately. I'm happy to buy something to bring, but I've got much more depth in Washington and California. I'll happily go with what everyone else would like to bring.

Yes I know I said I prefer French, but until I know what is near the top of my stash in seattle, at least I know what my friend has held for me so I shall bring
Originally posted by BRR: At this poing, I'm thinking I'll bring:
2004 Betz Family Winery Syrah La Cote Rousee Red Mountain (95 WS, 94 WE)
Should match well with (some) of the food at Ginger. And, Apmuis, I've been told that Bob's wines, especially his Syrahs, are French-like!
....or a 2001 E. Guigal Hermitage. What would y'all prefer? Or both?
If foreign nationals were allowed to vote, I'd vote for Hermitage; in fact, I'd be happy also to bring down Hermitage or Cote Rotie from '98 or '99. Or QC Cab, if we're going to do a WA theme.
Or Champagne?
