With the return of Ampuis to Seattle, as well as some new arrivlas to the area (mjraica), let's get this thing planned out WAY in advance! I think it sounds like Wild Ginger will be the venue and Saturday evening, June 6 will be the date. Let's begin by getting a list of attendees and go from there (theme, etc.).
So, who's in?
Attendees so far:
BRR and Mrs. BRR mjraica + 1 Ampuis + 1? mattach + 2 mneeley490 flop + 1 pape du deuf + 1 Lmtn and Fmtn tpb Seaquam and Mrs. Seaquam plusvini & Mrs. plusvini

Any ideas on theme?
Hey mjraica, Do you have a photo to share? My missus is off to Atlanta that morning so i'm also dateless. How tall are you?

We may be of incompatible chromosomes I'm afraid. Unless of course you're offering to assist in the search?

[insert mattach and Pinot Blanc joke here...] I'm pretty open to ideas, but was thinking that one potentially fun idea could be to arrange different flights, depending on what dominates our respective cellars. For example, a bubbly flight (insert two attendees here who'll bring bubbly) followed by a Sauvignon Blanc flight (inster SB'ers here), then a Chateauneuf du Pape flight, etc. etc. (not stuck on those particular wines to be sure, either - those were just random examples).
That's just one idea, however. Others?

Also, I think we should set a cap at around 14 or 16 (we're up to 13 now) and maybe start a waiting list after that. Too many people and we could really be pushing it.
Cheers!

Hi there BRR, I get so little opportunity to internet now but i'd better jump on this.
I am adding 2. Thats Lmtn and Fmtn, you met them at my departure offline at Daniels.
That is a loose 14.
I would also like to invite Seaquam and the Mrs. from the cold north...so Seaquam if you read this...
Theme wise, I personally will be doing big guns as I will have been away from my cellar for a year. Since all I am doing is drinking French, then I thought SHS or QC.
I will contact my insiders at the WG this weekend for the room sizing/availability and shoot you an email.
Thanks for the postings...looking fwd to seeing folks once again.
BRR...please add one more to my party - my buddy Tim (I think you and Pape remember him from the Daniel's night as well) will also be attending. As far as theme, I am game for almost anything. Am heavy in Pinot and Rhones right now.

ITs a long way off, but I will try to make it up. I was just up in Seattle this past weekend, tasting barrel samples of the Red Mountain cab/merlot, and the Napa Valley cab wines I made this past year. If I can swing a trip up north, I'll bring some samples along.... Thanks for the heads up.

Absolutely! I'd love to meet the Seaquams! If you don't think your folks at Ginger will have a problem with large groups, I say BRING 'EM ON! The more the merrier.
Cheers!

Theme-wise (again): we could just do a modified OTBN thing and everyone just brings some sort of "Big Gun" (a-la-Ampuis) to pop. I've got a couple burning holes in the ol' cellar...
Cheers!

I am only out that way from May 20th to May 30th, so I will miss out on the big June 6th gathering. I hope everyone enjoys and I still hope to bump into a couple of you for a glass or two on May 29th.

Sibs, we will miss you. but we will talk about you, don't worry there.
incidentally, what are you up to on the night of the27th May? I arrive from London that evening and I may be able to sneek a glass in whilst the missus collects the baggage.
I like the idea of flights. The food selection at Wild Ginger calls for some variety of white and red. More than a dozen blockbusters at one tasting would overtax my powers of concentration and appreciation, so I hope someone has the courage to go light.
Sibster, we've never met, but if you are looking to share a glass or bottle, post your plans as the end of May approaches.
