Lentini + 1 are in. I can host if that's preferred over a restaurant. Northern Rhone? I'm gonna have to shop, but that sounds very tasty. Of course, we could do an Italy vs NRhone Syrah shoot-out....?

Sounds like a bad weekend for several of you... Would the weekend before be preferable for the group? GF, Habu and Jace ?

Could possibly do the 30th, although it has been hectic and June 1, 13-15, 20-22, sounds better to me (1). Does Italia make syrah superiore?

As long as it's not Memorial Day weekend, I'm in. Just tell me where and when to show up, and I'll be there with bells on!

The 24th would be the only day we have, but even that is sketchy.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a week, so with Organizer Extraordinaire (I forget your offical title) PurpleHze overloaded, I'm gonna cut to it prematurely:

Let's do Saturday 31st... Northern Rhone (Cote Rotie, Condrieu, St. Joseph, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas). Chez Lentini. 4103 Casey Court, Alexandria, VA 22306. Avoids Memorial Day weekend. Plan to catch up with those who can't make that weekend at the June offline.

Being a trip into Virginia... Any of you Marylanders who would like to spend the night are welcome. Also, if anyone wants to Metro... The Huntington Metro is nearby, but requires a drive (taxi or me picking you up).

I'm stumped on menu and wine... So I welcome suggestions. I have one of those new infrared grills if anyone needs to grill anything - charcoal purists snicker if you wish, but it cooks like a champ.

Hi Lentini: way to take charge. We're in for two...and we've been drinking a lot of Northern Rhones! This is going to be a good one!

I am bummed that I can not make it down there for some southern hospitality. My in-laws are going to be in town, and we are celebrating our boys' birthdays.

I love the theme. Who's bring the Chave Hermitage???

Lentini,

Count the Klymkev's in as well.

I will also be a delivery boy as I believe I have wine for Lentini, sarbuze and jace.

Looking forward to Chez Lentini!

Looks like this one is shaping up nicely! Looking forward to seeing the Klymkevs. I don't think we've raised a glass together in many, many months.

Holy cow, this might actually happen for the mJ's this time around. Where's the closest hotel? Will have to look into this. Have one commitment for the 31st, but I think we might be able to bail on it! Woo hoo! -mJ

Way cool, MarkJahnke! Looking forward to meeting you. Sibster, too. I'm sure Lentini or Klymkev can set you up with hotel reccomendations. Just don't let them recommend anything on NY Avenue!

I did a little digging around the cellar this weekend, so I'll go ahead and declare:

1983 Delas Frères Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette

1995 Rene Rostaing La Landonne

Honestly, I don't have too many N. Rhones. Those two, and another bottle of the wine I brought to Abacrombie. I promised myself to hold off on that one til you're in the house!

No promises yet, but I'll run it by P to see if we can make it. Not much Northern Rhone ready to drink here either, will definitely source though if we can make it! -mJ

However, I note that one of the wines that Lentini has listed as his contribution is the 1998 Dom. Santa Duc Gigondas Prestige des Hautes Garrigues. Forgive me if I am wrong, but that is a Southern Rhone. However, I'd love to hear how it is drinking since I have two that I haven't opened yet and would very much like to know how they are progressing.

Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Frown

When in doubt, open another bottle.

Fixed!

If markjahnke can't rearrange his schedule, shall I consider you on the list, dinwiddie?

Alright, back in town. St. John's was great, as usual. Little Joe swam by himself (with floaties) for the first time. Very cute.

Lentini,

You took your kid to St John's Newfoundland to go swimming?!?!? Wasn't it a little cold for that? Eek

I guess it's St. John (not St. John's). Perhaps that led to the confusion??
