Really enjoyed it. Thanks for the suggestion, Charlie.
Here's the lineup from last night. However, I thought that the Peter Lehmann Sémillon said "Sauternes" on the label but I couldn't find a listing for a wine like that.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. Out of curiosity, which of the wines stood out with Chinese food? Or, on the flip side, which dishes lended themselves to specific wine pairings?
---------- "Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams . If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

I thought all the wines worked out fine with the food. There was enough rice and water to wash out any spice =)
Red guy, I thought that all of the whites and the Pinot held up well, and the other reds did ok. But for me, I lost the complexity that some of the wines offered when tasted with the spicier dishes (and for some time after).
spo, unfortunately I didn't get around to the Tannat so I can't comment on that one. But the Guigal came from my uncle's cellar and was definitely a roll of the dice wine. It didn't show much fruit at first, though that improved with air time. But it never stood up to the acidity. Well over the hill, but it only had a couple of toes in the grave.
