YoYoYo,

Mandy and I attended a Spanish/Portugese wine tasting last night--whoa! Tons of delicious food, fondue, wine of great quality, and much borderline drunkenness (of course, Mandy's giggling and earthquake-ish hiccups helped with the overall euphoria, as did Grandpa Van Winkles raucous snoring in the back row.) I'll post my tasting notes in the TN section, of course, but I figured since we're talking about a potential Spanish OL, I'd at least set some sparks to the planning process, as I think the Spanish realm is one with a world of new, unique flavors that can only add to the mesmerizing intricacies of wine we find so magnetic and tantalizing; of course, you all probably know that by now, but it never hurts to remind oneself how great things really are, in case one forgets or takes for granted. Now, you see, this may be the longest sentence I've ever written, but bear in mind my sense of purpose, here: To grow this thread in to something great, to turn it into a first-growth of sorts, a collection of OL wisdom matched only in scope and breadth by the scholarly works of such libatious icons as, umm, as...as, well, Pliny the Elder. ALRIGHT, I just wanna see Stevie's thread get to 10 pages! Long replies like this help a lot--Get off my n_ts, yo!

I'm down with waiting for the CdE Ol, too. I need to stock up and save up for when the right time comes. And all that good stuff.

StevieCage: Can you do us an enormous favor?
If there is still some Laughing Magpie 2001 at Henri Bloem's, would you have a problem picking up two or three bottles for us, to receive due compensation on our next journey to A-dam/Utrecht? Let us know, and we'd be happy to return the favor anytime.

Thanks a bunch StevieC! What are your thoughts on a Spanish OL, by the way? How soon? Very excited about these prospects...Until then. Cool

I've checked the Henri Bloem in Utrecht, but could not find a Laughing Magpie 2001. Maybe I did not look carefully, will try it again soon. Big Grin

What those new OLs concern: I need some time to find a way to collect money. My budget is gone, so to say (we had some expensive OL last few weeks/months and I also like to go on holiday). Of course we can always do some lower budget OLs, but please wait with the Cos.

Tsunami, Tsunami, Tsunami--I beg of you, might you be so kind as to pick up two or three bottles for Mandy and me. Even if StevieC does find and purchase some in Utrecht, is that really a problem--NOT AT ALL Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin!!! It just means more stellar VINO. Thanks a bunch in advance! Stevie, don't feel like you have to be on a mission with this wine-hunt, either; if the Magpie doesn't cry for you anywhere, that's not a big deal at all--it cries elsewhere in Switzerland... Wink I do appreciate you looking, though--you guys rock!
Lady Roots,
I may finally have a chance to post my Spanish TN's online tomorrow night. The wines happened to be very well priced and fall in the Jeff and Mandy Vogel point range of 80-92 pts. This would be a great avenue to take as far as inexpensive OL's, as would a German OL, especially given the season and the hype. Plus, prior-to-September-prices are really cheap...Let me know how you feel about this. The OL doesn't necessarily have to take place next month or even June, really; however, my birthday is in June, so....... Razz Lookin' forward to hearing some good thoughts; I'm no decision maker when it comes to this stuff. Talk to you all soon! Tsunami, thanks again for everything--you're a wonderful chap Cool.
