bman: Big Grin

tsunami: foodwise, I like almost anything, so just surprise us!

I think this occasion calls for some special wines, and I got some on my mind Cool. Including one that will most likely be very intriging... but it will be a small wonder if it turns out to be drinkable... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes .... we'll see...

Any specific VP '01 in mind, Ronnie. I still need to try the Guimaerens.... Big Grin hint, hint
Anyway...the little surprice port we are going to open can indeed be called intriging. All I like to say is that it is one of the first in its kind and that it is propably completely undrinkable. Mad

Shouldn't this now be 'Three offlines in Utrecht (or Amsterdam)'?

for my person i will bring only absolutly great stuff someting "95 -100 p" like

"normal" wines are not worth driving trough europe.

i would prefer older/riper port than 2001?!?
after a 2000 or 2001 the tong is coverd.

steviecage,

I was trying to figure what could be described as a special wine that might be undrinkable, since the two would appear to be mutually exclusive.

Perhaps it's a very old port from a weak vintage or porthouse? Knowing how much you all love port, that was my first guess.

tsunami, don't worry, we'll make sure there is a very good selection of wines! We will not let you travel all this way only for an experiment. Smile

tsunami: To come back to your travelplans. I would say, choose the option you prefer. You are more than welcome to take a nap at our place if you arrive, no matter what time that will be. It's all fine with us, actually I'm looking forward to it. Big Grin

We have been discussing the real wine/port options and we will certainly NOT let you drive through the whole of Europe to open a bottle of reserve Ruby. (well, maybe for cooking...)

Ohh, this is an excellent excuse to drink very special ports. Eek Eek Big Grin
And I'm glad I just got my salary...

Tsunami: Don't worry about the wines at the OL - everyone normally brings out among the best wines from their cellars...and usually too much Razz

Actually, if we just drink what we start with there would be just enough...the trouble starts once we start breaking out more bottles from the host's stash!

In any case, Tsunami (or any other forumite) need not worry when travelling to The Netherlands Roll Eyes

We must remember to keep this thread open so that a Stevie-initiated thread gets to three figures/pages.

Whoa...What's this about another off-line in two weeks? Granted, I didn't follow the thread too well, but would someone be so kind to share what's going down fairly soon? Based on the experience of our first off-line (Joe, Stevie, Ronnie and Lady Roots--a humongous, resounding 'Thank You' from both Mandy and Me), we can't help but be extremely excited about seeing everyone again. If I can get the time off, I'll be there in a heartbeat (or 5 hours; whichever comes first). Hey, by the way, E42 takes you to west Belgium if you go the wrong way. Yeah, crazy, I know; whoever dreamed up that idea? Alright, tschau!

Soll denn doch getrunken sein,
trinke nur vom besten Wein.

Pfalzman: did you take (by any chance) any exits at the E42. They can bring you to nice/cheap port/wine shops. Cool We like wineshopping in Belgium, they don't know anything about proper prices...

If you are interested in other OLs, we'll organise them quite often (in Utrecht or Amsterdam), so you are welcome any time.

Oops, forgot something:
Tsunami: Do you have any idea how to take care of the food for the OL? Do we need to do some shopping in advance? PLease let us know your details, so we can make it the greatest OL ever!!! (actually, every OL is the greatest ever so far).

I'm just doing this to keep the thread going and get my ID on four front-page threads at the same time - managed five once but never all six.
