Bman- check out the new Sheraton on Willow road. It's very close to Otis's and probably pretty competitive for rates too.

Not looking good for next year either.

Thanks grossie. I'm a pretty hard-core Marriotrewards points collector so I'll probably stay put where I am, as I usually get upgraded and other TLC at Marriott properties. And the rate is only $87 with breakfast.

I should be starting another thread in an hour or so with all the hotel info. Sorry for the delay but I had to make a few changes to the contract he sent me originally and he was out the office until today. I'll keep you guys updated.

Is it possible to be added to the waiting list? I would certainly make the trip if a spot were available.

Let me share another hotel option for those that want to stay on Michigan Ave. I negotiated with the OMNI hotel a rate of $119 a night. This is the hotel I got married at in March. Every room at this hotel is a suite. I will have the group name established tomorrow. It will be as simple as calling and asking for the XYZ group rate.

Ok, the contract is signed and done. I am just waiting for their sales team to forward it to the hotel and then they will give me a group code. I had to guarauntee 10 rooms each night, they wanted 15 and I wanted 8, that was the hold up. The rate is $109 a night. If we dont hit 90% occupancy I pay the difference, so if you are staying downtown please stay there, no offense to Italian Wino. There are a couple of rooms wednesday and thursday for those of us coming in a little early. I'll start the new thread as soon as I get the code. Hopefully tonight, but maybe early tomorrow.

Since Jburman has more at risk I will cancel the option at the Omni on Michigan.

Otis-

Still room for 1 more?

I see its going to be the wait list for me.

Still, DrTannin would love to join and can make his own arrangements or perhaps stay w Vino Me. It's been 4-5 years since our last off line...way too long!

mlv, I see the Brother Jc has 4 reserved, what'll it take to be the invited two guests? Just kidding, looks like I have that weekend off, so if space opens up, I'll see you guys in Chicago.

otis, I think all in the forum would like to say thanks for the open invite. If things work out, I am excited to come to the event.

Berno: As a local, any contribution you can make to the food table, would be much appreciated. Cool

I'll post more logistical details as we get closer, but I'm planning on replicating the format of previous CDPs as closely as possible.

My email address is m.boersma at comcast dot net if anyone has any specific questions.

Looking at the list of attendees (and wait listers) so far, it is an All Star cast of WS forumites. Really pumped about seeing old friends and board members I've never met.

If I could add some old timer names to the list, I'd want to see the following (just off the top of my head):

Pinot Envy and her husband- Attended a couple past cdp's with memorable results.
Tom (BHVineyard)- Brought his lineup of Pinot's in for the last cdp. Always good to see him.
Kybo- I know Otis and he have a special bond.
Tyee- Can never have too many Canucks.
Seaquam- One of my all time favorites. Just as funny, personable and friendly in person as on the board.
Winetex- Surprised she did not sign up for this.
Kelly (Enoselsa)- Really a shame he doesn't post here anymore. Maybe with the events at ebob he'll come back. He'd love this party.

Otis I was in Afghanistan for the last CDP and wasn't able to make it. I am in the good 'ol US of A this time so if my wife and I could be added to the waiting list I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Seems like the best way to meet the most forumites at once. And if nothing else I enjoy reading about it after the party.

Chicago has now become possible on this end. What are the chances for three "alumni"?

Waiting list please.

Otis,

Thank you for the placement in your CDP and was really looking forward to the event. Hate it when priorities take hold in a situation like this but I will have to withdraw thus bringing Christmas in June for some lucky person to take my place. Enjoy and I will have to look forward to reading about all that can be written about.

This is so tempting just to come in a week early to eat Uno's and Vienna Beef hot dogs....and of course to meet some of the imfamous board members. Otis, can you add me plus one to the waiting list? Thanks! -mJ

Mark, I think from where you are on the waitlist, you'd be in pretty good shape to make the final list. Based on past CDP's anyway.

Have a great one guys! I really wish we could hop on a plane to get out there but the party is the middle of our busy season. Get some whiffle ball in for me. Hope to see ChiTown again in the near future.

Tickets booked here! Unfortunately we won't be in for the Thursday festivities.

I volunteered to arrange a shuttle from downtown a few pages ago, but I think grossie had also chimed in to do the same. I think a local would be better served to arrange this, although I would be happy to help from DC as much as I can.

Grossie,

I assume you are handling this?

If so, I'll let the 2 or 3 folks that contacted me know and have them contact you.

Looking forward to the date. Thanks again Otis!
