This infamous "offline" fills up faster than any other at any time and, at 75+, it's by far the largest.

The great thing about this is that it's not about the wine itself that Otis inevitably pulls out of his cellar (while that is a great thing), but it's Otis himself (and Mrs. Otis), their hospitality, and the great atmosphere inherent to so many good forumites that get the chance to get together at one time. Cool

It's an International Wino Convention. Big Grin

Not to start a chorus of Kumbaya, of course Roll Eyes but I agree 100%. It's guys like Otis, and events like this that make these forums such a wonderful place. Can't wait to put more faces and real names to monikers, and of course re-acquaint with old friends. Hell, I might even remember some of the latter this time! Wink Big Grin

After I was kicked off the Notre Dame campus my sophomore year for having a reggae party while a dormitory mass was being conducted (my room was located right over the chapel), I've always enjoyed a rousing fiesta.

Getting friends together from around North America defnitely brings me back (in spirit) to those days. Always a fun night that recharges my soul. So let me take this opportuntity to thank everyone who expressed interest or good wishes. It is quite humbling and gratifying to see this type of response. Smile

Cheers,

Otis

Looking forward to this event.

mlv-

I plan on bringing several stickers. It just wouldn't feel right drinking from a bottle that didn't have one. If it becomes annoying to others, I'll put one on my glass. Smile

My understanding is as of last week, no more stickers on bottles in Utah. Is it true? I do know the Zion Curtain came down.

Hi Otis,

It's been too long since I've last seen you. I hope you're doing well. I'd like to attend if there's still room.

Thanks,
Scott

Is that for sure? We'll be out there this summer. Without the sticker, how will they know where you bought the wine, or doesn;t that matter any longer?

Just one more sip.

Bit thumbs up! The CDP IV in '07 was my first offline, and what a way to start. As we left, my wife-to-be said, "Mr. and Mrs. Otis have to be the most generous people I've ever met." More truth has never been spoken. It'll be so nice to see old friends and make new ones.

WOW. I'm not sure how to take this. Now whereas I will be making some type of spring roll, only because I've heard rumors that some other guy makes them somewhat rememberably well, it only will be to squash any type of comparisons. My general culinary skills and cuisine staples should more than suffice any palate. I am already honored to be accepted and thought well of as chef-de-cuisine. Who is this Francis guy that you speak of anyway?

I had heard rumors about this, but I cannot confirm. Let me verify and I will get back to you.

Oh, it WILL cost you one bottle of Melville Viognier. Smile

Rather than deter from Otis' thread, Boardo get my email from tbird and let me tell you what the Utah alcohol bureau told me (I had to investigate for a possible move Roll Eyes). Gigabit, how do I get a message to you?

The more I read about this party the more excited I am to go.

If anyone is interested I can get a head count of people needing rooms in the downtown area and try to get us a group rate at one hotel. You can send emials to jburman82 at hotmail.com If I get enough responses I'll start another thread on this topic.

Always the highlight of the wine drinking season. You can count on my wife and I to help with whatever setup you need again. Just let us know how early you would like us there. Tradition also calls for late night White Castle burgers as well so we will take care of those.

Could you also put 2 of our friends who live in Grossie's neighborhood on the wait list please.

JB - we will try to remember to bring the list of wines from the 2007 CDP to the WPB offline whenever that happens just to give you a hint of what to expect. You will start drooling, I guarantee it.

Here is a link with Cellar Diminishment Party Advice for Newbies. Anyone who will be attending this event for the 1st time should read it.

And here is the list of wines opened at Otis' 2005 CDP. Sweet.

Vino Me - You've gotta edit the "advise"/advice, even though it's an old thread! It's driving me nuts!

Or.... am I already nuts??

JC- Correct you are. I posted the 2005 list. Here is the 2007 list. For those wondering about 2006 and 2008, this is a once every two year event (at least it has been recently).
