This is going to be an awesome event. So bummed I cannot make it. London to Chicago for a weekend trip is a bit much! Looking forward to notes, pictures and stories. I’ll trade wine for a good pic of Gig playing air guitar Cool

The Legend of Gigabit's Air Guitar continues to grow. There have been multiple sightings, however, any photos are blurry and nondescript, at best (similar to those taken of Sasquatch). Wink

SPECIAL KRACHER STATION ADDED BY THE CWM

Breaking news from the Chicago Wine Mafia. They have quite generously offered to create a Kracher dessert wine station at the party. Very cool! Cool

There will be a good representation of #'s (got every # from 5-12 except for 11), grapes (4 varieties) and vintages (6 years). There will be about half ZDS wines (traditional style aged in used barrels) and NV (modern style aged in new oak). There will be Auslese, Beerenauslese and Eiswein Cuvees in addition to all the TBA's, which really rounds out this special tasting station.

Please note that these are only half bottles, so I'd ask that anyone interested in trying these wines be judicious in their pours.

Here is the list of what everyone is contributing, in the order that our Teutonic-wine expert Vino Me recommends drinking them:

2003 Alois Kracher Cuvée Auslese- (Vino Me)
2002 Alois Kracher Cuvee Beerenauslese- (Grossie)
1999 Alois Kracher Scheurebe TBA #5 Zwischen den Seen-(Scubarex)
1998 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #6 Zwischen den Seen- (RobA)
1998 Alois Kracher Chardonnay/Welschriesling TBA #7 Nouvelle Vague-(Lost Verse)
2001 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #8 Nouvelle Vague- (Anwar Atalla)
1998 Alois Kracher Traminer TBA #8 Nouvelle Vague-(Scubarex)
2002 Alois Kracher Chardonnay TBA #9 Nouvelle Vague- (Allred)
1999 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #10 Nouvelle Vague- (RobA)
1998 Alois Kracher Scheurebe TBA #12 Zwischen den Seen- (Allred)
2004 Alois Kracher Cuvée Eiswein- (Vino Me)

Many thanks to the CWM for doing this. They have always been very supportive and helpful in setting up this event and the tradition continues! This is a really neat and unsolicited idea. Krach that whip, baby! Big Grin

Otis-

I'm picking up some Krachers from VM. I'd be happy to lighten the load back by offering a bottle to the tasting, if you need more.

Dr. T: very nice of you to offer. I'm sure another bottle of Kracher would be appreciated by dessert wine afficionados. My cellar is not very deep in that category. Thanks for the contribution! Cool

Tbird: I will try to download danko for you. We'll be sure to clear out the dance floor for you when it comes on. Big Grin

Ampuis/Montsant: sorry ou guys can't make it. Maybe next time!

Powell: hope your schedule opens up. It's been too long, man.

Working on the wine list this week. First pass identified around 120-130 bottles that need consumption. And this is just the crowd for the job! Cool

Cheers,

Otis

What are we going to do without the Dean Martin of the WS Boards?

Otis- Add a bottle of 2002 Alois Kracher Scheurebe TBA #6 Zwischen den Seen- (Dr.T) to the list of Kracher wines.

Me too. Possibly 100+ bottles generously opened, including a dozen Kracher's and counting, and an early flight home the next morning. Oh my!

I'm willing to bet that Scott McDonald (if he attends) of the the CWM tries more wines in a shorter period of time than any other board member.

No doubt that Scottie Mac is the Iron Man (or Iron Tongue) of the CDP. I will not bet against him.

Dino: catch you on the flip side, bro.

Latest song added to the CDP playlist:

(Ain't Nothing But a) Houseparty - J. Geils Band

Cheers,

Otis

It kills me to say this but we're out for the CDP this year Frown Frown Frown. We'd planned to add it onto a family getway before the kids went back to school but we all need some quiet time, rather than big city time, so we're off to a golf resort near Atlantic City instead. I tried to figure out a way to do both but it's too long a drive.

Man, it's been ages since I offlined too..... Frown

otis,

i'm *very* sorry to have to say i cannot make the CDP -- again. my soon-to-be-ex wife is undergoing serious surgery tomorrow and i'm going to fly there for a few days. to get a few days off to do this, i had to rescind my vacation request for next weekend and promise to work.

thank you for the kind in invitation. have a fantastic time. and as i said last time, *please* keep me on the list for your next CDP. i hope then my life is a little less complicated and i can finally raise a glass with you.

bman and newsguy: Really sorry you guys can't make it. Hopefully, we'll hook up soon somewhere down the line.

In Kiev right now. Learned the hard way that you chase vodka with borscht, even during a business lunch. Eek Good practice for white castle and wine, though.

Will have some more details about the CDP over the weekend, including a wine list and other info. Stay tuned. Cool

Cheers,

Otis

It is with real regreat that I must withdraw from the party. I had a conflict arise about two weeks ago and thought I could work around it and arrive later on Saturday - but have been unable to make it work. At least Southwest will not charge me to change my flights. Enjoy the wine and Otis, thanks for including me. Hopefully we will be able to share a bottle of wine together soon.

Not sure if Otis is still doing the waiting list, but my friend from Philly is not going to be able to make, so I'll be flying solo. Oh well, her loss.
