SPECIAL KRACHER STATION ADDED BY THE CWM

Breaking news from the Chicago Wine Mafia. They have quite generously offered to create a Kracher dessert wine station at the party. Very cool! Cool

There will be a good representation of #'s (got every # from 5-12 except for 11), grapes (4 varieties) and vintages (6 years). There will be about half ZDS wines (traditional style aged in used barrels) and NV (modern style aged in new oak). There will be Auslese, Beerenauslese and Eiswein Cuvees in addition to all the TBA's, which really rounds out this special tasting station.

Please note that these are only half bottles, so I'd ask that anyone interested in trying these wines be judicious in their pours.

Here is the list of what everyone is contributing, in the order that our Teutonic-wine expert Vino Me recommends drinking them:

2003 Alois Kracher Cuvée Auslese- (Vino Me)
2002 Alois Kracher Cuvee Beerenauslese- (Grossie)
1999 Alois Kracher Scheurebe TBA #5 Zwischen den Seen-(Scubarex)
1998 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #6 Zwischen den Seen- (RobA)
1998 Alois Kracher Chardonnay/Welschriesling TBA #7 Nouvelle Vague-(Lost Verse)
2001 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #8 Nouvelle Vague- (Anwar Atalla)
1998 Alois Kracher Traminer TBA #8 Nouvelle Vague-(Scubarex)
2002 Alois Kracher Chardonnay TBA #9 Nouvelle Vague- (Allred)
1999 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #10 Nouvelle Vague- (RobA)
1998 Alois Kracher Scheurebe TBA #12 Zwischen den Seen- (Allred)
2004 Alois Kracher Cuvée Eiswein- (Vino Me)

Many thanks to the CWM for doing this. They have always been very supportive and helpful in setting up this event and the tradition continues! This is a really neat and unsolicited idea. Krach that whip, baby! Big Grin

Latest song added to the CDP playlist:

White Light/White Heat - Velvet Underground

Cheers,

Otis

Wow, what a line up! I love the wines from Kracher and can't wait to make the cut from stand-by to stand-in. Those wines are going to blow some people away who haven't had the opportunity to try them yet. They will certainly be memorable. Great job!

Yes, thanks Chicago Wine Mafioso! Such generosity. It will be a treat to taste some of these wines (I've only had a Kracher once or twice)

I have to travel to the Midwest ahead of schedule, and I won't be able to make the trip twice in August.

I thus must regretfully relinquish my place at the party to the next person in the waiting list.

Thank you, Otis for the generous invitation. It sounds like it is shaping up to be one of the top events of the decade.

Someone needs to ask futronic about "talking about a talking dog." He made people come to his New Orleans hotel room to discuss this very topic!

I still cannot erase the memory from my mind.

I think your memory is failing Seaquam ... a group of us needed to escape while you were talking about the talking dog!

Your hotel room.

Your bed.

Your bathroom.

And even your chosen topic, I believe.

I think we know who's the culprit in this one, fut. Avoiding culpability doesn't suit you, my friend.

It's like the talking dog [almost] said: you can't really pin this one on me.

*groan* I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to hear the punchline again!

jburman - The joke went on for like a half hour! Mrs. Seaquam and a few other people also had to escape to the bathroom to not hear it any more!

Oh well, at least we were drinking some great wine through the process.

Otis,

Do you think you can add Diver Down or Fair Warning by Van Halen to the playlist? Not that I like those particular songs but in another thread gigabit said he would put on an air guitar show if you played one of them. Kind of like to see that.

Air Guitar Offer

Either Little Guitars or Mean Street should do the trick, however, I did say might not be able to resist. If the donation cup fills up quickly, I'll see what I can do. Wink

By "donation cup" you mean your wine glass? And by "fills up quickly" you mean with wine?

I'll bet that if TBird can be persuaded to do his "special" interpretive dance (and I can assure you that very little persuasion will be needed) while gig is rippin' those air chords, the cups will fill up very quickly. Smile
