I will be in the San Diego area Sept 21 through October 5. We routinely come out a few times each year and I have decided it is time for me to meet some fellow wine lovers. I will have some unstructured time Sept 29 through Oct 3 if anyone is available for a small (or large)off-line somewhere.

We have been a little more spontaneous here in San Diego lately. Maybe we can get a small group going. Seems like as good a reason as any to run to 3rd Corner or Wine Steals or something else.

Every weekend there are plenty of tastings to choose from, high-end lunches, or casual stand arounds and multiple inbetween.. Lots of friendly winos here in SD..

Weeknights have their share of tastings too...

There is usually a high end dinner function, about one or so a week..

All this talk makes my gastric juices flow think'n about it..

There are lots of lurkers here, and a great low key core group that actually joins in on the tastings... Our monthly offlines are the bomb..Look forward to your arrival... Do you want some names to look up their sites? You sound like you have hit the scene before... If you need any more info we can email directly...

Yes, I have learned a few of the places to go for wine out there and am actually planning to attend a tasting on one of the Wednesday night's I am in town. I have my eye on a wine dinner in La Jolla as well. I am a bit on the shy side though I guess, so I am reluctant to try to join up with groups that I just happen to run into somewhere. I usually take my sister or sister-in-law (if they happen to come visit) with me as my husband is not a drinker. Anyway, I just thought if anyone on this board wanted to get together, it would be an easy way for me to meet some fellow wine lovers who would actually be expecting me.......

Ever been to Wine Vault?.. I am still a virgin there... they have what looks like to be some great paired dinners, multiple every month... Old World and New World... There is a Zin Dinner coming up very soon that looks good....

You won't have to be shy around this group... easy going to say the least... and we are much nicer after a few tastes.... Big Grin

Maybe we can check the calendars of ..Vault...Wsellar, Vintage, WCo... etc and see what they have for your dates... Bring the family... We like groups... Razz

I am a Wine Vault virgin too. I checked the calendar and see some dates that would work.

9/28--Wine flight Friday, 9/29--Prix Fixe Wine Pairing Dinner (no details yet), or 10/2--Rusden Winemaker Dinner. I would have guests with me those dates, which would be fun.

I could also come stag on 9/22 if that happens to be the only date that would work for most people.

Thanks Whine-Oh, for working to get something going, I hope something will work out!

the 18th and 19th look good to me.. too bad you will not be in town yet... I will try and plan on the 10/2 dinner... there are other options in and around town at the same time juncture...
spo is famous for his 3rd Corner exploits... Eek Sitting on the couch and chilln w/a few bottles and aps very nice and relaxed during their non-busy hours..We have been hitting Bacchus for their tastings/light aps and picking up a btl and either heading to a nice eatery dwntwn for the free corkage deal or watching the Friars play ball.. A nice decadent affair..
I wonder when the Pinot ho will be back in town?...
Talked w/LPSkeleton yesterday from Lake Placid....sounds like life at the OTC is good, continues w/his drinking problem.. Razz
Too bad Julie that you will not be in town for our offline next weekend.. sounds like a nice summer experience, thanx in advance Sean...
I am on call this week.. staying clean, sober (and hot) Frown
Cheers

Yes, too bad I won't be there, I am sure you will have a wonderful time. I will be in Healdsburg beginning next Saturday for a week, tasting and touring. Should be fun. I will keep 10/2 open. Hope others can join us too.

I am just so jealous of all the opportunities you have to get together for tastings. I recently posted an invite for a get-together in ARkansas and only had ONE reply. Can't wait to meet some of you soon!

Welcome to San Diego.

I'm out of commission from 9/28-10/5, but if there is anything going on before or after, I may be game. Otherwise, have fun all.

That's a definite possibility, but I'll have to wait 'til closer to the weekend to be sure. Are you also doing the Wine Vault dinner on the 2nd?
